Hypothetically, might it be possible to put the new 5-die LED (as offered on some of the latest fancily anodized Killers) into one of the standard AAA Killers with a 40mA driver? -nicer beam quality with long runtime and not too many lumens output...
...price increase associated with having such an LED in place of the Nichia?
Also, do the new LEDs have a name??

The specs of the new five-die LED call for 100mA of drive current, so driving them at 40mA would most likely result in a beam that we would not be happy with. oo:

It isn't an option that I will be offering, so no worries on the pricing, eh?

The name of the new LED is the five-die LED, or that's what I'm calling it. :devil:

All I have left at the moment are the Rainbow AAA Killers, or the bare Ti AAA Killer, both of which have the 90mA driver and the 5-die LED.

I hope to have some DLC coated Killers in about two months time.

I'm not in a big hurry, looking forward to the DLC coated Killers.

Does that mean the PVD coated Killers are done? The black hematite looks interesting.

I think you will find the DLC coated Killers to be as nice, if not nicer, than the black hematite; the DLC will certainly be more durable.

As for other PVD coatings, I don't think that will be happening.

It would be cool to see a variety of surface treatments make their way to the DLC batch. Machine marks, polished, blasted, stonewashed. You might get some nice effects.

BTW, I LOVE my Ti Killer and will be after another one at some point. :thumbsup:
