My brilliant subject says it all: Can I use 3 sub-c cells to power a 5W LS with either BB or MM? Which one would be better? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

The BB can handle a maximum input current of only 1.5 A so you'd need to use at least 4@ sub-C's.

I don't have a MM, so I don't remember the postings. Since a MM will work on lower voltages than the BB you may be in luck -- albeit at a lower output. I suggest you read Dat2Zip'x megathread titled something "all you want to know about the BB and MM."

Madmax maximum output voltage is 5V. So, the Madmax is out.

You might be OK with a BB500, but, the 700 and 750 require 4 batteries to be happy.
