Hi Everyone,

Thanks to everyone's great feedback,
here is the concept/design of the new AAA flashlight Im planning to make.

it comes with 1 head & 2 bodies

1st body = AAA size
2nd body = 10280 size

Power Supply: 1V~5V
This will run on anything that fits
1.5V AAA
Li-Ion 10440, 10450
Li-Ion 10280

Size:
with AAA Body = 65mm Long, 14mm diameter
with 10280 Body = 47.5mm Long, 14mm diameter

Target price for the first run is $65 or less.

Production Timing:
expecting prototype end of November 2011
1st production run about 1 month after that.

1st step now is to get the prototype made.
Clip design is not yet finalized.

Also, the final length may increase (max of 10mm but hoping 5mm at most), depending on the final driver size.

As always, I welcome your feedback.
Oh, and be gentle but honest, this is my first "production" model light.

The gestation period of an awesome Torpedo, 1 year. The usefulness of an awesome Torpedo, priceless! :) Really looking forward to it Guy, hope this pcb is what you are looking for (which means of course that we all get a totally awesome light the likes of which has never been seen before!) :)

Hi taratata,

nice catch
we are very near!

Fingers crossed that the pcb driver due on the 20th is good, then we can celebrate something with a proto by the 30th!

I don't mind saying that I am nervous and excited at the same time right now... my EDC light needs an upgrade pretty badly! Good luck, Guy!

Hi Sno4Life,

Thanks for the post.
I'm waiting to hear back on the new circuit and a proto.
Will post as soon as I hear any news!

Just say the word and I will ship you a bushell or two :D
This years corn crop here in the NE is excellent. I feel bad for all those in the interior USA that are experiencing bone dry drought and the milliions of dollars loss that it has taken already.

Hi , Tgwnn

I have a question . I would choose to wear the Torpedo around my neck on a neck lanyard. I am wondering is the control ring loose enough to be opperated with one finger while holding it between the index finger and thumb , using the pinky to turn the ring ?

I'm hoping it won't require the use of both hands to turn on worn that way. Since it does not have a rear button , I'm wondering is it practical on a neck lanyard ?

I think tou see what I mean . (have you tried using it that way ?)

Thanks for all your hard work and sleepless nights. Elves are on the way !

Hi TMG,

Thanks for the question.
I just gave it a try and whilst it seems a little awkward, I was able to turn it on and off using my ring finger.

Another way I tried was to hold the tail between my index and middle finger, then use my thumb to turn the ring, which was much more comfortable and with just a little practice should be quite natural.

Elves.... thanks.
my 3rd consecutive sunrise is almost here....
and its not coz I'm an early riser :)

WOW ... thanks for the very fast and complete answer .

I feel better now , knowing I'll be able to use it that way .

Twisties on a lanyard are very difficult one handed.

Hey ... if you're in South Florida , PM me and I'll come and help Ya .

Thanks very much

My Pleasure. South Florida sounds very nice :)
Will PM you if I ever get over there.

I got word back that the new pcb is expected to arrive at the lab next week.
