So I have had a bit of a break through lately, on Tuesday night I attend a home cell meeting (kind of like a mini mid week informal small church meeting) and a few of the guys there were supporting me with words of affirmation. A little while into talking about this seemingly hopeless situation the group leader (a 7 foot tall mountain of a man who used to play for the Fijian national rugby team) said he would fast & pray with me till the end of the month. He testified how God really intervened (sorry people if this is getting too religious for some of you, please just ignore the thread if so) in his family's permanent residency situation when he did this,

So we commenced that night fasting from 6am to 6pm, I began waking up at 4am to pray before work and have been standing on and proclaiming some positive Biblical promises.

On the first day at work after the fast began, one of the guys who reports to me - who used to be in my position before stepping down due to stress; came in and said he felt the whole thing was wrong and he would talk to the boss, he has never seen the warehouse & yard as clean and organised as it is in 5 years, and the team I have built is the best the company's had ever. This guy carries a lot of weight with the boss, so I thanked him and told him he should do so.
Well it did pay off, the boss told him he was happy with my performance, especially in this last week and in general and provided some specific feedback for me to develop, he gave him the job of coaching me into the role a bit since he has previously done it.

Nothing's set in stone yet and I haven't spoken to the boss on this wise since but my job may have just been saved.

I thank God, 1 day into the fast and He is already making things look up.

wow what a thread.
Hang in there, maybe leaving and getting another job was not what God had planned for you?
Talking honesty to your boss was a good move that took great strength. Your boss must now see you in a different light.
Keep up the hard work.

if anybody is still following this thread I'd just like to say I had an interview for what appears to be a great job and they were willing to match my existing salary, I'm expecting to hear from them on Monday (tomorrow) so if you have some time spare me a prayer or a thought or something like that, thanks

Prayers out for you and your family. Good luck with the job prospecting, hope you got an offer for the last one you mentioned.

thanks all very much for your prayers and support, I have been made an offer at last and it has come about by miraculous means (at least in my very biased opinion anyway). They will get back to me next week on salary packaging and I have an idea it will be a step up.
I also have another one lining up that might open up and it's a better deal again!
Of course nothing is in writing yet so I'm still praying and fasting

Sounds like you're making great progress, Luigi. Keep the faith, and hang in there. Things happen when they happen for a reason.

Sounds like this may have a happy ending. The outpouring of support and encouragement by the folks on these boards always amazes me. It's very refreshing.

Good luck luigi. More prayers on their way.

Thank you all very much - Monday I start my new job!!!!!!!!The way it came about was a real miracle - it was not advertised nor was it available as yet and I only heard about it because my delivery driver asked for the afternoon to see the "specialist". Then a guy from the yard told me he was going to a job interview, I knew that he had previously held my role here and would be looking for something similar so I did some probing and after a few phone calls I had an interview scheduled right before his.

I was unsuccessful in the role I had applied for BUT on a chance call the following week to book in a pick up (they are one of my current employer's suppliers) I happened to get the boss who interviewed me. I asked no questions regarding the role - only if my pack was ready for collection. The fact that I took this proactive step to prevent our delivery truck waiting around impressed him so much that he offered me another role - a role that I would much rather have and would perform better in. He said he was already thinking about giving me that position because he was very impressed with me at the interview and from my CV/resume but the fact I was organised enough to call first and check was enough to push him over the line to make the decision.

Now I'm sorry if religious discussion bothers some people but I have to say thanks to God who carried me through this along with your prayers and support - this job was not advertised, not available and I interviewed for the wrong job! Yet I have the job and te company is a far better place to work with a great deal more opportunity than this awful place I'm in now.

oh and they also supply your lunch and all meals every day too but they ask you don't have a sit down break - no such thing as a free lunch...

A while back, I went to a start up company that basically offered the same thing. The company didn't last and I was only there six months but managed to gain 15 lbs. in that six months. The "nighttime" meal offered to those that would stay late was a particular killer. Chinese take-out one night, pizza the next and so on.

Just a heads up. Maybe your new company will offer more healthy meals or you'll be able to constrain yourself more then I did.

now.

So can you start eating finally? Or do you have to keep fasting or something? I don't know what your rules are for something like that. That was a pretty quick turnaround.
