Re: Carclo Triple Optics- Drilled for Trits 10507 10508

Mine arrived today. The skill required to drill these must be immense. The trits all slid in like they were made for each other.

I now have 9 white trits in my 3300L :D

Thanks!

My best effort at a long exposure pic with an iPhone:

You can see the trits reflecting around inside the head :)

It's impressive alright. I'd be too afraid to use it outside the house though.

It's a daily user for me. Lives in my work bag, comes geocaching at night.

It's actually got quite a few scratches on it. No shelf queens for me!

Looking for price on 4 of the 10507 (clear narrow) for shipping to Ohio. I've got a similar 3300L with HiCRI emitters a triple from down under and a bad thing for trits...

Nicely done Simon :twothumbs, The really hard part to drilling these is having the patience to go slowly enough. When my mind wanders, things go wrong:duck:

Had 2/3 of an order of 10621 Carclo quads come in damaged, and then managed to destroy 2/5 of the good ones :shakehead Doesn't leave a lot left to sell (all sold). Have some on order through another vendor that should be here by the weekend. Here's a shot of what they might look like, they will fit the Kerberos and Vanisle quads that I know of.

Edit: check to make sure the optic in your Kerberos quad is removable, at least some were glued in.

Is there a way to tell which Carclo optic I have on my Kerberos Quad by appearance? I thought it was a 10621, but am not sure now. Im going to look thru the original sales thread to see if I can find it there. anyway has anyone successfully removed an optic from a Kerberos Quad? I've tried tape and the adhesive putty (for hanging posters) and it still wont budge. I'm also really really not wanting to damage it when trying to remove it. Any thoughts?

Hey Jeremie, without having both right next to each other I think it's impossible to tell. The 10622 (flood) does have slightly smaller diameter center "holes" in each lens than the 10621 (spot). The 10621 actually has pretty good spill so I use the term "spot" only to tell the two apart. Hoping you hear back from Kenji that those are not glued in, with four posts set in those holes, it might just take a utility knife blade sort of jabbed into the edge of the optic or underneath depending on construction, and pry upwards. Does no noticeable damage. Let us know when you hear back.

Just received a bunch of 10621 Carclo quads from Craig at Illumination supply, all individually packaged and in perfect shape:thumbsup: Those of you that ordered, these should go out Tuesday (Monday holiday here). Still have a bunch available as well (10507, 10508, 10621)

Received both optics (triple and quad) and they are both drilled perfectly. The trits slide in smoothly almost like a hydraulic piston. Great job on a great idea. Thank you. And I gotta ask since I cannot find info anywhere at Carclo"s website, but can anyone tell me what that (flange) coming off only one of the optics is for? I thought maybe for venting or something, but I dont believe its hollow?

Oh I missed that last post. Yes I did hear back from Kenji, It is in fact glued down. : ( ... So now I'm trying to convince myself not to try to get it out because I dont want to ruin the original optics. But, I also really want to try out the new 10621 with trits (the original is a 10622 plain tight with pure blue GITD), which Kenji confirmed also. I'm sure at some point I'll end up taking it off, I think I'm just stalling and hoping I come up with some bright idea. That'll be the day... haha

Re: Carclo Triple Optics- Drilled for Trits 10507 10508

Ughhh, sorry to hear that Jeremie. It's still possible to get it out but pretty involved and would certainly wreck the current optic. The other option would be to send me the whole light engine and I could drill out the current optic without removing it. I would need a good pic of it first but pm me if you're interested in something like that.

I think that little flange you're talking about is how they are all connected in the mold, it often has a fairly jagged edge...

Yeah I would possibly be interested in having you drill out the glued optic. Then It would have GITD and TRIT posts. But heres my dilema,(dilema...dilemma... one m... 2 m"s? I dont know), anyway I like my lights throwier. And now that I know theres a 10622 in the quad currently, I really really want to try a 10621 on it. Even though I know theres not a big difference. To get the optic off without damage is preferred, but yeah if I just want it removed knowing it will be damaged, I have a number of ideas. Hell maybe I'll have to buy another quad just so I can use the Trit Post Optic. Good enough reason for me to shop for a Van Isle Quad
