I have several that have the dots (5 rows around top).

I understand that they are a high-drain (10 amp, continuous) hybrid lithium nickel manganese cobalt oxide (NMC) with a Positive Temperature Coefficient (PTC).

I would greatly appreciate help in clarifying this information.

What is the difference between the two (dotted, not dotted)?

Thanks!!!!

The CGR18650CG cell is supposedly identical to the CGR18650CH (NMC hybrid, 2250mAh, 10A cont. discharge current rating) with the addition of a PTC as additional safety, to be used in low current apps where the PTC is permissible. My guess is that at the time of that cell's development, 2250 was a competitive capacity for a 2C-type (usually/historically LiCo) cell, so the same guts (10A capable) were just offered in PTC and non-PTC versions. The CG should appear to have a higher IR than a CH and shouldn't be used for high currents.

As to the dot-matrix pattern near the positive versus only the black stripe(s), that is date related, the old style Pana cell shrinkwraps have the model number in huge lettering and the dot pattern

while the newer style has a much smaller font for the model and only the black stripe(s)

I'm not sure when the changeover was, exactly.
