Yeah, you're good to go in Minimags. I've been measuring all kinds of batteries in my RayoVac 2AA. Alkalines are best, and make pretty good light until they get down around 1.4 volts or so, but can still be useful. They deliver about 30 mA when near-new. NiMH's only work well fresh off the charger. I have run a pair of fresh charged Eneloops a lot over the last 24 hours, and they are already noticeably dimmer. Current is down from only the high teens, which is really not too bad at all, to about 11 mA. I think their life will be short, buy consistently bright on Eveready lithium primary. An old used pair gave 50 mA, which will probably degrade brightness over time.

Now that I am playing side-by-side, I am a little torn. These I prefer for general use, with that true-white, noon sun look. But the cozy, incan-like glow of the 3200's is perfect tailstanding on the nightstand before bedtime. Maybe that is why the mid-neutrals from 4000-5000k are so popular.

So I had an idea (not exactly an original one, and after all, even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while). For the multi-LED mods, MIX 'EM. A PT Attitude with two 5600's and a 3200 gives you a 4800k light. An Xnova-8 with 4 of each is a 4400k light, or just two 3200's for 5000k - oh, you get it.

Interesting idea!

I have been playing with two Photon Freedoms, one warm, and one cool Yuji, and placing the battery sides together, and squeezing both sides at the same time to turn them on...blending the two. Now I have to figure out a way to clip them together to use this way. You can also ramp the light level up or down at the same time, of course.

I will still use a warm Yuji Photon Freedom for night reading -- great because of the warm light and ability of ramping the light level up or down.
