Re: Flashlight boring and other machine work by your old pal scott.cr!

What was the total cost for the work done in post #42?

Yes I'm curious as well; I already have partially grooved 2D body - is it possible? Plus your tailcap mod photo (e.g. with the switch, not just a hole)

Thanks,
Kurni

$80.

$35 for the double-ended cut-down/rethread, $20 for the head fin and $25 for the host. No charge for the tailcap mods.

Hi Scott,

I've got a silver 2D mag with a Malkoff mod in it. I run it on one of fivemega's 2D-6AA adapters.

I'd like to make a spare holder for my second 2D-6AA adapter out of a cutdown silver mag tube and and extra tailcap.

This seems like a pretty simple job compared to some of the things posted in this thread. Would you consider making something like that for me and what do you think it would cost?

Hi Scott...

Based on your post #56, it appears that you`re willing to bore out a 3-cell Surefire L6 body to take two 18650`s. Is that correct?

If so, what be your price, kind sir?

Thanks for the info!

:)

Hi Greg, this job is no problem. I need more help understanding how you want the finished product to look. Just a knurled tube with two Mag end caps, is that correct?

How does $25 grab you?

BTW, I can't promise your L6 will take two 18650s, but it should take two 18500s. ;-)

I understand these jobs are on top of your day to day workload, but a reply to my PMs would be great just to know how things are going? :thanks:

You got it.

I'd need to stuff a block of foam or something into one of the tailcaps to keep it from shorting out the battery pack but otherwise pretty simple.

The battery pack is just a little longer than a stack of 2 D batteries. Would a 2D mag tube be long enough or would it need to be cut down from a bigger flashlight?

I don't have any spare mag parts laying around but I'm okay with buying a flashlight to cut up for this project.

The 4-cell lights are too long to do a good job on my existing setup, so I will have to (regretfully) turn down this job. Sorry! :p

Your light will ship on Saturday; I have to go to the post office to ship this.

I hope that meets with your acceptance.

A 3D Mag would probably work fine for this project... I can make one (or both) of the end caps out of Delrin if you want to pay for that material. You can check the price at mcmaster.com, what's needed is at least 1.55" OD material if you want the end cap's OD to match the tube's OD.
