This is 4th generation of smallest 18650 flashlight, which I suppose, all of you nave already heard of. Flashlight was provided by Banggood for review.
Package is simplest – just some cardboard and sticker.
There is only flashlight and o-ring.
Flashlight is really, really small. It has the same height as my 14500 powered Xtar sirius WK41 and slightly thicker.
DQG has significantly unusual rough texture. I`ve never met any product with such texture. Knurling is…hm…small, and how it`s described in another review – "aggressive".
Clip is tight, but doesn`t scratch anodizing
Button is small, soft and too inconvenient for any who had no time to get used to it. To be frank, this is one of worst button I met. During 2-3 evening tests, I constantly couldn`t lay my finger on it at the 1st time. I hope it`ll take some time to get used to it.
Machining is OK, but dark stains from lubrication on threads make impression of dirt.
There is no button at both ends. Nevertheless, DQG tiny works with all the types of 18650 batteries. As thread is long, there is a opportunity to lock flashlight, simply unscrewed tailcap.
Grip is good
What about LED and driver, i`d better quote BLF post : "The DQG Tiny 18650 series lights use an integrated board that contains both the driver and the LED. Because there is only one board instead of a separate driver and star, this allows for the shortest possible light.
The downside of this arrangment is swapping in a replacement driver isn't so easy. A standard FET driver won't have a place for the LED on it, and there probably isn't room in the light to add a separate star for the LED and still have room for the optic."
This flashlight has TIR optics (though i`m sure you can see it without this my notice-) )
I took photo below from review at Russian flashlight forum. Guy managed to modd DQG with tri!
There is nice glowing ring.
UI.
It is untypical. There is no Strobe\sos at all.
From off
Click once to access Low mode
Click Twice to access Mid Mode
Click 3 times to access High Mode
Hold the switch to access Turbo mode
From on
Hold the swith to circle through modes.
Click 2 times to access turbo mode (then 1 click to return to previous brightness level\2 clicks to turn off)
Here is the amperage.
looks like I made some mistakes in turbo. There should be 2A and I believe it is, because visual difference between max and turbo is significant.
I must admit that 1 minute turbo is not enough to make flashlight too hot. 40 celcium is definitely tolerable temperature for hand. That is good.
There are optional cold and neutral white. I got last one. I agree with other reviewers that this flashlight is something between flooder and longthrower.
I didn`t include 3.5 lumen in this GIF, because 20-40 meters to windows is a way to distant to get any difference, all be dark.
I din`t find any PWM shimmering.
What about stabilization. I didn`t that light is stabilized well, please take a look at the video.
Though, I must admit, for most of cases to use thiis tiny EDC light this is minor misadvantage.
Manufacturer chose good brightnes range. Each of them is useful, from 3,5 to 300.
Overal:
I really didn`t like button. The rest impression are completely positive. It is well build, TINY! and bright (and this is not so-called turbo of small flashlights which will drop brightness down in some seconds to prevent overheating). I assume, that if anyone wants to rise from Convoy or *any-fires to some higher level of non-expensive flashlights, this DQG will be in 1st line to choose.
