Hello there, a friend needs a transparent pvc tube (2-3m long) to make a laser from scratch. Where to find a cheap one?

Try auto audio sources. I have seen the clear PVC tubing used for ducted ports on speaker boxes.

Actually there's all kinds of info on making your own gas laser, including some in Sam's FAQ, and many people have done it. They are usually nitrogen or CO2 based. Google for "homemade gas laser" (without the quotes) and see what you get.
