Hi, I'm looking to buy a Steinel LED floodlight for a garden that is 40 foot wide and 80 foot long.

Does anyone know what watt I should buy to sufficiently light up my back garden?

Seems kinda expensive. Why not get a fixture like this under your house's eave. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Heath-Ze...ecurity-Light-2-Pack-SLI5408WH9PP18/202351711

I hope that fixture is metal--stronger. And put 2 par lamps in it. Less than $30.

Par lamps if you live next to a Menards that has these avail on closeout.

You could find SOMETHING like it kinda cheap. Some big box hardware store is always discounting PAR or BR reflector lamp.

I say under an eave, because the nature of that fixture, there is no enclosure around lamp, allowing LED's & heatsink to cool. And I point out PAR lamps because they throw light pretty far, and don't spill it closeby. BUT if that's what you want, find a BR lamp of some sort. Fairly directional, with lots of close spill. The BR lamps tend to be much lighter for that little fixture also.

Wish I lived nearby, I have a stock of fixtures and lamps and could fix you up.

Par led lamps can be heavy with their heatsinks, so keep in mind a sturdy fixture--metal.
