led lightbar question - any bets on the driver inside?

In the past I have considered an indoor led project, so did a little research into drivers. I understand that in a perfect world, you would want to regulate voltage and amperage. That said, I recognize that often (if not more often than not), one of the 2 is regulated and the other is controlled by hope and prayer that the heat sink keeps the led from going into a thermal spiral.

That said, I have been looking at 12 volt LED offroad light bars lately. While it looks like some might be well designed and made, most appear to be clones, and who knows what components are in them (other than the advertised emitters). I might end up wanting to plug one into AC at some point. Do these 12v systems usually have drivers? Would I be better off using a 12 volt led driver rather than a simple 12 volt transformer if I try this (and assume that the light bar has a driver inside?)?
