Hello all, noobie here. I apologize for resurrecting a 5 month old thread, but it was as close as I could find in the Search function to what I am looking for.

Mac now shows the Cree XM-L light on his site for maglite drop-ins, along with the SST-50.

I am confused about not only which to choose (the Cree is less expensive and I think battery life is longer with it) but also which color to choose, the 4500 or 6500 temp.

Would love any input from other who have upgraded to any of the above, thanks.

Also, at $110 or so, is the Mac Mod one of the best around or are there other choices?

I personally think the 4500K color temp is the only way to go.

I personally like the 4500k SS50, I have a couple of light built by MAC with multi Q3 5A by far my favorite.

In MAC's video, he used 3 1/2 sized batteries.

Does anyone know how to charge them?

Does it need some kind of special charger for it or just regular one?
