10508 optics? If yes I have those, they're nice.
I had tried all of them: 10508, 509, 511. For indoors I have settled on 509 (in my mac's triedc) and for outdoors on 511. For my liking any of them is far better than 10507.

But if the Phaseburn's film can stand the heat in M43 then I think it is even better for it is said to have better light transmition.

Just bought the 10509 optics to try out. Had to shave down 2 of the 10511 optics to get it all to fit properly but once it did it was great. Picture the 10507 optics but nicely diffused for those wondering.

Did you use the 509 or the 511----- Comfychair had a nice write up on polishing optics-- I find if you take some 1500 grit and wet sand the 511 slightly then polish with fine compound --the 511 will give you nice throw but with a seamless no outer edge artifact beam--I do this with all my triples --my meteor was the dedomed XP-G2 version with 70klux--changing to the 511 polished only dropped the throw to 62klux

I was using the 10508 optics which is the frosted medium spot. When I purchased the light I also bought the 10511 optics since I wanted something that was throwy but with a nicer beam in comparison to the 10507. The 10507 are not bad just like the 10511 for better beam yet still throwy though not as far as the 10507. Just today I bought the 10509 frosted wide optic just to try it out. The price of an optic is very low so there was no reason why not to try it out. Just hoping I don't need to shave down the side at all. Didn't use anything fancy just a knife file from a leatherman. Worked fine.

In terms of LED I have the 219C Nichia at 80+ CRI. I don't notice any artifacts in the beam but betting thats because they're not dedomed and a different LED.

XPL PDT 8500L 78Kcd
White2 7500L 100Kcd

Measured both back to back

White2 Advantage is nice white tint with no green of the PDT. 22% more intensity but about 12% less output...So Which is better?
I suspect XPL HI 6500K will be about 9000L and 70Kcd but I would need to have one built and measure back to back .

I have a great feeling I will enjoy W1 more than W2 for triples as I enjoy W1 more than W2 in the EC65vn Quads...I am thrower bias as hell so my desire is for as much throw as possible in a pop can size now since there are an abundant ultra high output pop can flooders already.

EC65vn

  • White1 2100L, 46Kcd, 429m
  • White2 2500L, 33Kcd, 363m

OK so M43vn with
White2 is 7500L,100Kcd & C2vn 5000L, 100Kcd...Both 100Kcd but M43vn is 2500L brighter...C2vn might fit in a front jean pocket but M43vn is strictly for jacket pocket only...Tough one...

100Kcd from the White 2s?! Holy Moly, imagine what the White 1's will do. I thought 70kcd from the E07vn was impressive.

I would say White 2 is better, better tint is always a huge factor, but that much more intensity is a noticeable increase. That much brightness isn't, too me at least. Man, now I'm thinking the White1 from M43 is going to be a real excellent combo...

As for which to grab, well, I'd say if the C2vn is as pocketable as an E07, that's a heavy edge because lumens isn't as useful to me compared to the intensity of a reflector. BUT, if it's annoying to have in a pocket, this *does* seem more like the kind of genre of light that you either are using as a main, or are able to have it in a bag or something. So I'd probably grab the Meteor. I do love the Meteor though, so I'm biased.

I will try another M43vn with w1 and a C2vn with W2.

I will eagerly await.

Semi-related- do you have Rustic M43s in both White 1 and White 2? There's a White 2 on your site, but the email sale from a few days back listed one as a White 1. Just curious if you were offering both, or if one was an error.

I shouldn't be thinking about this light so much with 4 lights on their way from you! But damn, it's really looking to be super impressive.

edit: OH, perhaps it has to do with optics? That would make sense.
