Welcome koopa and thanks :)

Hi easilyled,

You are 50% perfectly correct (the mini part) :twothumbs

Tgwnn

Well it was worth a try. ;)

Even if I was correct, I don't think you'd admit it at this stage, would you?

Perhaps it generates light by finger pressure with no battery required?

.....or..... perhaps it contains a singularity which is ready to unleash a new universe?

With a multi-verse switch of course...no one mode lights from guy....

It's a tiny flashlight that can be embedded under the skin of your index finger. It runs on blood and activates when you make a gun gesture.

There will be no time machine, so, I'm afraid you'll need to follow your normal? developmental cycle.
......
........
I AM 100% confident that The Thing WILL be able to illuminate selected areas of OUR universe though.

:D
Ahh TEEJ,
ok, will stick to my "normal" dev cycle :)

Like (yet much unlike) a typical illuminator , improving visibility in the dark is what "Thing" does best.

Well it was worth a try. ;)

Hi easilyled,

You are right :) It's tough to say yay or nay at this stage.
Some very cool ideas though.

I have designed the no-battery version but for the moment, I did not want to delay things so "as-is" and maybe implement a no-battery version in the future depending on test results.

With a multi-verse switch of course...no one mode lights from guy....
The plan for Thing-Ultimate is 9modes.
Thing-O & Thing-E.... kiddie proof.

What the what is it???
Hi rpm00,

It's a li'l thing :D

Newguy2012,
hahaha.. I like it!!

 Pretty sure it has something to do with this:

Str8stroke,
Some thing...
.....magnets, photons, electrons
at least 2 of those :D

Welcome KITROBASKIN :D

That would be awesome! ;)

Following this with great interest

so the illumination must be more for others benefit than your own?

Would it be something that utilizes the galvanic process to generate photons?

Thanks mikes1,

Whoever has a thing benefits the most :D

Capacitors on-board but there is also a battery. I did explore some very nano sized capacitors....
In the future, I may use a nano sized lithium-ion as the power to size ratio of those still outperform capacitors.

Re: MBI: "Thing" - My newest, top secret "the product with no name"

Update:

Thing-O
Samples machining is done (pending some laser engraving) but the sample photos look sweet ;)
Silicon samples are also done (confirmed some photos a short while ago)
Both these will be headed my way shortly.
Verifying the silkscreen draft (printing on the PCB) right now (needs a minor change) so those are not too far away either.

Thing-E
Body samples are due to land by tomorrow morning. Don't think I'll be home fast enough for today's delivery :(

Thing-Ultimate
I 3D printed a sample. The mechanics worked first time off the bat! WooHoo!
I'm thinking I may be able to shed a little size but it's good. I need to sleep on it for a day or two.

I am eagerly eagerly eagerly awaiting the new PCB prototypes for Thing-O/Thing-E.
Amazingly, "things" O&E are right on schedule, with all ordered parts being completed on time so far.

I do need to verify assembly (fortunately, oh fortunately, this should be straightforward but I do need to verify the process if it's going to scale) and then finally, once I confirm the final PCB samples, I'll trim the offering to a few slightly different versions and things should roll smoothly from there.

Awesome pic! It took me a few minutes to figure it out. But, it's one of those things you stare at and relax your eyes and then you see it. Only took me 10 minutes after that! That THING is so cool! Tiny too. It was hard to find in the pic!

Thanks!

LOL, Thanks Str8stroke

Actually a stereogram is a great idea!
Let me see if I can find my old stereogram generator when I get back from the PO.

Tgwnn

p.s. Thing:O was (is) actually in the photo, tiny though... it was actually too visible when zoomed so I had to add some special blur effects, sorry. Picture in Picture but the overlay is one of the critical parts ;)

The picture isn't very good. Just send it to me and I'll take some nice ones and post them for you.

I can't see those magic eye images. It looks like a still of cell division to me.
