Hurricane Matthew rolled right over my fair city, and while the damage wasn't as bad as it was upstate I was more than a little concerned so I double-checked my preps.

I have mostly moved away from AA batteries for flashlight use, but I still have a stack of them around. However, I had no working lights that took AA. Thus, out of boredom and desperation was born . . . the Caveman Light.

Behold, the beauty of the flashlight body, cut from a piece of locally grown and sustainable harvested (ie from my back yard) bamboo. Gaze in wonder at the LED, scavenged from a cheap Harbor Freight AAA light. Behold the glory of the switch, found in the bottom of a box of components and held in place with a wad of masking tape. But the best secrets are hidden within: the wiring is made from a worn-out RCA cable and held in place via the magic of the hot glue gun.

This is the ugliest light I have ever seen, but there's one problem: it works like a champ.
