Regal WT1 Q5 vs. WF-400 Q2 (+VB-16 SSC and Q5)

It is not overall comparison. I'll try to answer one question:
Is it worth to spend 62$ more (or 89) if you want bright torch?
I asked it myself when I compared them at the same distance. I've expected WT1 to be noticeably brighter because of Q5 driven at 1A. That's what I saw when I turned them on (both with 18650).

My answer is: if you don't want to do abuse test in real life (don't need HA-III) get WF-400. It's well built, cheap and simple (there's nothing to broke) flashlight for only 23$.



PS. But I'll stay with WT1. Why? Best lanyard I've ever been using...

Really like the Regal, could have been brighter but doesn't bother me much as the chances of being in a situation where an extra 10% isn't that likely. Really like the finish and design of the Regal.

I've got nothing against good value either though so thumbs up for both! :naughty:

yes i got 2 WF-400 they have a really good throw for the size.

WT1 - one week.
WF-400 - 10 days to over a month.

Time for some real world beamshot and another competitors. Distance was 50 and 100m measured by Google Earth:


Time for our competitors. VB-16 SSC from Kai and VB-16 Q5 HA-III joined to our team.
VB-16 from Kai needs some explanation. It comes from first batch and it's way different. It's dark grey (not shiny black, VB-16 from Kai is on the left) and has less textured reflector and cooler tint. And it's stronger than other VB-16's (despite of dirty lens and emitter!).

I know it looks dark but it was too cold to search my camera's UI with no gloves. What you can see was made on default night settings.

As I've expected WT1 outthrows the rest, WF-400 is slightly dimmer, both VB-16's definitely are not throwers but with 16 brightness levels are the best choice as a torch to walk with (2nd level is bright enough to walk in the forest).
