Children, children, hush!

I have a stainless steel handle Delica on the way with AUS-6. I don't care if it won't hold an edge through Armageddon, because my Lansky + jewelers loop + leather strop will put a beautiful edge right back on it when it needs it.

I checked spyderco.com, and they list VG-10 as the blade steel for both the FRN and all-stainless versions of the Delica, but Spyderco has used other steels in the past, such as AUS-6 and G-2 in my very old (1992) FRN Delica.

I wouldn't worry too much about AUS-6 in a Spyderco. In my experience, their heat treatments are very good, and the blade should perform well. I've always felt like I got my money's worth (or better) from both Spyderco and Benchmade.

BTW, you may want to shop around at places like www.newgraham.com and www.emergencyoptions.com or others. Prices may vary more than you expect, and if you want VG-10, I'm sure you can find it.

All my best,
Dirty Bob

I've got an old metal clip Endura that says ATS-55 on the blade. Did a search and found this review that seems to cover several recent versions:

Just checked my older Endura with the molded plastic clip and the volcano grip on one side only. It says AUS-8 on the blade. I think it must have been just about the last production, or maybe a rebuilt as I got it on a warranty return on an Endura I wore out the lock on.

Got curious and found this page on various knife steels:

Well, at least the pointy tips never broke ;)
