I have Type 2 Diabetes which means have to measure my blood sugar 4 times a day.

As I was doing one of my tests today I was looking at the plastic capsule that the test strips come in. It is very heavy plastic with a waterproof snap cap that is just the correct size to store one CR-123 cell. They look like an old 35mm film can, but plastic.

Since it is not much bigger than the cell itself it fits perfectly in a shirt or pants pocket, brief case, etc.

Best of all they are free after fulfilling their original purpose.

The brand of test strips that are packaged in these capsules are OneTouch Ultra by LifeScan.

I find those containers a bit too "big" for CR123A's. Had to place some foam linings inside the container to eliminate rattle and trimmed down the excess "edge" on the cap to make it less bulky.

Other than those, they do make a fine battery container. They're sturdy, airtight (I'd assume that they are quite water tight too) and virtually free. I wonder if I could fit a LED and a driver in there.
