In fact the term "tactical" doesn't really mean anythng at all.

Being a bit of a word geek, I must respectfully disagree :D

Tactical does mean something: Simple to use, sturdy, and reliable.

Although you are correct in that it does not mean anything specific in terms of flashlight features (which is what you probably meant).

Since I have no real or perceived need for a "tactical tailcap" I'll take the ability to tailstand, not that I'll use it much.

The E2D/E2DL/Z68 is my favorite on the e-series, and the Z41 is my fav on the C/P/M for simplicity and reliability.

I don't find tailstanding as useful as most seem to. I can always find a place to either lay a light down to reflect off a wall near where I am working, or prop up a light pointing upward. Losing the easy quick access to the tailcap is more of a detriment to me in normal non-tactical situations than tailstanding is an advantage. Guarded tailcaps make me have to hold lights in a weird position compared to unguarded TC's.
