OK I'll send you mine but don't kill it! My A2 is pretty modded.

:D About time I helped more than just throwing around ideas.

Moddoo:

Although I'm not interested in the clips at the present time, I can send you my L2 tailcap and L4 tailcap, if that would be of help.

If you can make one with a hole for lanyards, I'd be very interested in one for an E2E and one for an L4. Not sure if anyone else would be interested, tho.

Cool, it looks like Sgt will send his.
I could easily have a lanyard hole.

Here are a couple cell phone pics of a prototype I cut tonight.

There is plenty of room for the button to squish.
I made the inside a nice 5 degree taper to the bottom

I left it cylindrical until the end where there is a slight grip ring which works well.

Even though I made it a bit too long, it is pretty easy to activate.

sorry the pics suck

Dang you made plenty of room in there! The button looks lonely somehow.
I really like the slight lip on the outside, classy.

PM me your address so I can get the A2 tailcap out to you tomorrow. Oh and I am in for 1 A2 ring and 1 E ring. :)

I'll send you the L2 and L4 tailcaps tomorrow, I've already got your address. To make things easier, I'll enclose a return shipment sticker and return postage. This gives me a chance to return the favor you performed for the 6P boring services deal.

But there already are shrouds for the E-series and A/L-series tailcaps, and have been for quite a while. (Delrin, but still...)

Give us shrouds for the Z58/Z59!!! (and matching bezels for the U2, please)

Thanks guys, keep the comments coming.
It looks pretty nice in person. The tailstand is nice.

Thanks for sending the tails guys. I really appreciate it.
maybe there will be some kind of discounts...:naughty:

The space inside is nearly entirely filled when the button is pressed.
Much less would introduce some resistance to the "click"
I could add a tiny bit of wall thickeness and a fillet at the bottom to make it appear a bit more "full" inside.

I won't have any shop time until next week.

Maybe a crenulated model will be coming soon.

I'll be picking up some thin, spring temper stainless steel, on monday to play with.

Just FYI, the tailcap on the L1/L2/A2 is called a Z62.
They are sometimes harder to take apart than the E-series Z57.
I had to tear off the rubber boot on one of the few I encountered.

Moddoo, cool material and nice design! I like the 'ridge' you put on the outside
as well as the inisde taper

Sounds great man. I like the idea on how to make the bottom seem fuller.

My A2 has been apart before so it'll be easy! It actually has a delrin ring on there now so you can take a look at it.

Thanks for the heads up.
I'll make a custom tool to remove the ring.
if I wreck anything, I'll buy a new one for the owner.

It was just a thought but it looks completely functional and thicker would add more weight which might be a down side? the offset of bare metal against the HA looks really cool. I really think you have come close to the bullseye on the first attempt!!

BTT,
I am going to pick up some stock to make a few clips today.

Also getting a quote on a part very similar to the prototype.

Tom:

The L2 I sent you won't be a problem. I installed an Oregonshooter shroud on it. I think you'll find it simple to twist off.

(FYI, like Nekomane mentioned, I had a bear of a time getting the original Surefire tailcap apart to install the Oregonshooter.)
