They say a pic is worth 1000 words. I'm waiting on approval to take apart and start poking around with a Fluke.

Upon close inspection I see it says 18-88V Automatic Adjustment, which I assume is the work of a variable voltage step up transformer in the pack there. "Microprocessor controlled" voodoo.

To reach 88V you would need to have 25 cells IN SERIES. To reach 13,000 mAh capacity you would need 3 parallel 21700 cells. No way that pack is carrying 75 21700 cells, you couldn't lift it!

However, 18V is a much more viable 5 in series arrangement, with 3 parallel 21700s for 13Ahr capacity but that's still a monstrosity with 15 21700 cells PLUS the Chinesium mystery step up transformer to boost the voltage.

The whole tin of biscuits is suspect to me. A voltmeter and probably a tear down to see the little elves inside boosting voltage is called for.

It's a head scratcher for sure.

apparently these are cheap power tool batteries compatible with 18V Makita? Don't know why they would need 88 Volts capability? I'm guessing it's possible that they are not really 88V nor 13 Ah??

Oh yeah I'm already aware of the compatability. One of the maint guys at my other job does that.
