I'd say that about sums it up, Kevin. ;)

The more important question is - when can we buy one?

Damn still too many issues. Doesn't work reliability. :-(

The problem is 2*Lion is too little voltage for regulation so low volateg protection kicks in. 3* Li-ion is too much voltage and this will cook the LED in the long run. Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh We need about 10-11V input voltage LOL

What is the optimum recommended current for the MT-G2?

Maybe if the driver limits it to no more than 5A, then 2 li-ions would have enough voltage to power it in regulation?

Would a MT-G2 be brighter than a triple p60 XP-G2 driven @ max amps? I know the MT-G2 puts out 2000 lumens otf.
Thanks so much,
L. Fred

I have both, courtesy of Vinh, and yes the MT-G2 is brighter. It also gets much hotter much faster.

Sweet!

Ok - time to start making the sun shine.

:D

I'll wait here while you work out the last of the bugs.

Damn, I just bought 4 IMR18350's. I'll wait a few days and see if a driver pops up before I send them back.

They are always useful to keep in stock. I wouldn't send them back personally.

I'm really happy with that XPE2 you did up for me. What's a good drive level for XML2 for high output but decent runtime and thermally able to run continuously, about 2.5 A?

2A in a P60 host. 2.5A is still a bit much.

It sucks that MTG2 requires a deep reflector, i want a 4*MTG2 blaster. Hell i want an 8*MTG2 light

I had a XML2 mule done @ 1.5A by Vihn I'm running continuous on a HexLamp. On high it reaches a max of 108 degs. F and holds. Just "warm" and plenty bright on Med for close detailed work.
