I went spelunking at Big Lots. I grabbed a 3D Rubber Qualilight or something like that and a plug in night light/emergrency flashlight.

Edited to add: It was a Qualistar 3D light which I prompty 4Cd.

The EL has a very weak beam but a nice textured reflector. I opened it up and found two no-name 600ma AAs.

Thinking out loud here, what if I put two 1600 or 1800ma AAs where those are?

Would it make the bulb shine any brighter?

How much were those items?

Putting a higher amp hr battery in would permit the light to shine longer.

I doubt that you'd get a brighter light, but you should get a longer lasting light. It would also take a much longer time to charge.

Since it's a power failure emergency light, it may be that the reflector is designed for flood characterstics rather than a beam.

Well the beam is kinda wide but it just doesn't seem bright enough.

And I don't mean against Tec 40 with 3.6vbulb or 4C'd 3D lights.

I mean against stock 2D (DAMN brain!) Garritys and Rayovacs.

I have a Dorcy Boss 2AA that is similar in Brightness.

Usually emergency lights aren't very bright. They figure if the power goes out, it'll be quite dark. Once your eyes dark adjust, a little light goes a long way. TX
