Does anyone know if the HP11 operates normally on lithium primaries? Thanks in advance, Mike

I suspect it has been designed to run @ 1.2V x4 = some 4.8V only.
4x 14500 lithiums @ 3.7V each, would mean 4x 3.7V = 14.8 volts, so probably unlikely unless the circuit is designed to take that level of voltage...

The user manual says NiMH rechargeables are "recommended", alkaline and lithium primaries are "usable", lithium ion rechargeables are "banned".

Note that they almost CERTAINLY mean 'Energizer Lithium AA' (1.7v nominal) rather than a LiSomething 3.0v nominal. If you're brave enough to try triple voltage, let us know how that works out.

Mine works very well with Energizer lithium AAs. Some improvement in running time, also. When overheated on high it will automatically switch to a lower mode anyway, regardeless of what batteries you use.

I prefer Eneloop XX - better running times than Nimh, much cheaper than primary AA batts, and they work in freezing temperatures also.
