I have a game camera on my piece of property in North Idaho. It works incredibly well throughout the summer months. The cam I have now has been in place since late May-early June and has taken hundreds of pics.
When it begins to get cold, however, the battery life suffers. What would be the best batteries to put in it for the longest life? I think I've got basic Energizers in it now.

NiCad batteries handle cold better but their capacity is not as great as nimh. You are right about Lithium batteries. I have a large LiFePO (Lithium Iron Phosphate) battery and it performs well in cold weather, but it is not supposed to be frozen. How cold does it get in the environment that you want to use the camera? Extreme cold may be an issue for any battery.
