Got this from Surefire this morning (just got online) If moderators wish to (re)move this - no problem

"Dear SureFire Customer,

For years we've been aware that the drawback to owning a high-performance flashlight was the cost of operating it - after all, those lithium batteries are not cheap. Ever since we first introduced the lithium battery-powered flashlight, we've pursued a variety of strategies to bring the cost of those batteries down for the end-user, including the manufacture of our own private-label SF123s.

Now -- thanks to you -- we have the buying power needed to negotiate even lower prices based on larger volume. And, instead of keeping battery prices where they are, we've decided to go all the way by cutting our margins to the bone and passing the savings directly to you.

Purchase SureFire brand lithium batteries direct from SureFire for only $1.25 each when purchasing a box of 12 or a bulk pack of 72. Yes, you read that correctly, $15 for a box of 12 and $90 for a bulk pack of 72 (shipping not included).

The alkaline battery is dead, long live King Lithium!

Best regards,

the really scary part is, if surefire can contract out and sell their lithium 123's for $1.25 and lets just say they are doing it for free (IE they are breaking even).

Think how much companies like energizer and duracell are making manufacturing them in much larger quantities and selling them for $5 a pop in stores.

That's some good markup.
