Using laser as flashlight?

I want a flashlight with extreme throw in stead of spill. So it needs to have a very narrow beam pattern, more than the focusable flashlights that I know have, like the Mini Maglite Led and Led Lenser flashlights.

My goal with this, is a flashlight that is extremely bright in one spot, while using one or two regular AA batteries.

I want to use this laser for many goals, like technical inspections, walking in a dark forest, etc.

Can I for this purpose use some kind of a laser? Can a laser be diverted enough for this use? Maybe with some sort of diffuser? Preferably even a white laser?

I realise that I have to take special care in preventing to blind someone, and I definitely will.

Thanks in advance for all your answers.

You don't need a laser, you need an aspheric light
Thanks Illum. That is an eye opener for me. Which aspheric lights do you recommend with one AA battery, and with two AA batteries?
