My wife is in search of a AA battery powered flashlight to keep in her car. She wants a simple UI with on and off. I would like it to be over 100lm with good run time. That's all the preferences she gave me.

I bought the wife an Olight S1a for her car, works great and runs on either one AA or a 14500 rechargeable battery. Simple UI, press switch to turn on, press and hold to change output levels, press and release to turn off. Not sure what budget you are looking for since these run around $50. Hope this gives you a starting point, good luck.

Lumintop Tool went in my wife's car, and PKDL PL-2 on keychain.

Admittedly both are AAA lights, but for the occasional car use, they work. Both about or above the 100 lumen level. Small size, simple interfaces. And neither expensive.

I liked the comment he made about it being AA twist on AA classic. It is definitely an option I am considering now. Waiting for more recommendations.

Fenix e12. Bought for my mum. Simple click on/off. Starts in low. Slightly press switch, a press at a time to go up levels of power, 8, 50, 130, 8, 50, 130 lumens. Maintains constant brightness. Nice affordable, comes with decent guarantee, drop and waterproof to a reasonable measure.

I'd like to suggest The Rayovac 2AA indestructible, and match it with a Nitecore NTW34 traffic wand.

The rubber head of the light fits the 34mm diffuser perfectly, and holds it tightly.
I load mine with NiMH duraloops, but have a four pack of Energizer Lithium L91s as a back-up.

note: shop for price, I see B&H photo has the diffuser for about $4, but on Amazon they are $19 !

I don't think it can be overstated how important a traffic wand can be to the safety of your loved ones. With a wand, if you want traffic to move over a lane, your intentions are much more clear, than if you simply had a flashlight.
