I was experiencing thermal shutdown with a Surefire M2 flashlight. Speaking with the friendly folks at Surefire they mentioned that thermal shutdown is normal when one uses SF123 batteries. So I thought a Special Ops light experiences thermal shutdown? A SPECIAL OPS LIGHT? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thinking.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif

As I understand it, the batteries have an internal thermal cutoff. I think that it's true of most lithiium cells. The Energizer AA and AAA has it.

The only lights I've ever experience Thermal Shutdown with are the 12PM with N62 and the M4 with N62.

I've heard it can happen with the M2 or G2 but I've never managed to replicate this myself. I guess the air temperature isn't high enough?

What are the conditions / usage that you experienced thermal shutdown with an M2?

Thanks

Al
