Re: SHOT SHOW 2008

Getting in is no problem if you register ahead of time. I know for a fact that you are involved in flashlight R & D. All you need is to give your one man company a name (something to do with portable sport lighting R & D services), make up some business cards on your computer (you probably won't need them, but good to have just in case), and register for the SHOT show, online, as an "industry professional".

Early Registration only cost $15. You'll get a bar coded receipt, when you register online, which you print out and bring to the SHOT show. At the show, they'll scan your bar coded receipt and print you out a pass. It's just that simple. I have never been asked for credentials justifying my registration. The key is to do early registration on the internet.

I just registered as an attendee (Registration > Attendee Registration > Standard Registration). On the page after the one where they ask for name and company name, I filled in "Industry professional" in the box labeled "If you are not a licensed dealer please describe your industry affiliation" because I could not fill out either the FFL field or the State Tax ID field above it. Then, since none of the business classifications in Question 1A fit me, I chose "AY - Marketing/Research" to answer Question 1B. I then had to pay $20 to register, which I happily did.

So, either I used the wrong magic formula, or else the price increases as you get closer to SHOT Show 2008.

Last time I went (2006), I stayed at the Imperial Palace. The monorail goes RIGHT by the place, and the price was okay.

A few booths do sell stuff, but not very many. Some booths give away trinkets (some are pretty nice). Basically it's a show. One year I was there, one of the most popular booths was a company providing government services which was giving away free beer.

My experience matches Jim's (except for the beer thing). Thankfully, the vendors from whom I desperately wanted to buy products were willing to sell, either right then and there, or on an "I'd rather sell it than pack it" basis at the end of the show.

I hope to get there Friday night, and leave Wednesday morning. I'm not sure where I'll be staying yet; still working that out.

I will attend the show, but as it seems now is near impossible to get a room in a hotel, so if you have any suggestions (you know about an apartment or so) please contact me!!

I don't know what you are talking about. I just went to hotels.com and found plenty of rooms - even some at reasonable rates. Check out the Tropicana or the Hampton Inn.

Most excellent. After seeing CPFers pics of SHOT for the past two years I'm finally in a position where I (A) have the money; and (B) can get the time off work to go.

Anybody in L.A. maybe want to carpool?

I'll try to make it.

Edit:
Rats.... where is there a place to stay there?

Just an alpha beta preliminary prototype thought.......
Maybe a dfw flashoholic version in March of 2008?
Lotsa hotels and meeting places here. :wow:
I'll work on it. :banghead:

I would like to attend. Does anyone know where to get a couple of passes:whistle:

Go to http://www.shotshow.org and register as an attendee. For $20, you're in like Flynn!

If this doesn't work for you, then try to beg one from a manufacturer.

This weekend I'm going to try to finalize everything, flight, hotel, etc etc etc.
Timing sucks, but hey, what can you do?

Anyone else have everything booked?

That would be me, Rothrandir. I'm driving, but I have my attendee's pass and my hotel room booked.

I went with the Clarion Hotel & Suites for $90 per night. A little walk to the monorail, but nothing I think I can't handle.

Yeah...I need to go to SHOT like I need a hole in the head (which is probably what the wife would give me).

We're in. :ohgeez: I've been wanting to do this since long before I got into lights. Maybe we can catch a show or two, see some old friends, and make a family vacation out of it, too.

So far I have been unable to convince my employer I have a legitimate business need to be in N. O. during Mardi Gras...maybe I'll have better luck with SHOT in Vegas.

I booked the Sahara last night. On previous trips, I've stayed at Circus Circus, and the Riviera, all in the same price range, and I'm hoping the Sahara has a better buffet. (it's also right next to the show on the tram).

If anyone else decides to stay at the Sahara, let me know and I'll see if we can all get rooms together.

I haven't booked mine yet. I checked locally and there are still hotels with availability. Where is everyone staying?

Hmmmmm....
It appears that an international cpf hotel get together is trying to happen, but there is really nobody in charge to head it up just yet.

It would need to be a decent hotel with a darkly lit restaurant, coffee, or lounge area with white walls, white ceiling and an accommodating general manager.
And not many miles away from the Shot Show.

If it was here in the DFW, Tx area, I could take care of things.
But it's not and I have not been to Vegas in over 10 years.

Edit:
Hey guys, c'mon I can't head this one up.
Is there really nobody near Las Vegas who can head this up?
I wanna come over too.

PS: Imperial Palace is a family owned hotel last I heard.
Hint....hint. ;)
