I need a light about the same size as a Streamlight Stinger. Something that will fit in the Stinger sized holder on my vest, and long enough to hold under my arm.

So far the best bet looks like the Inova T4. Any other suggestions?

Streamlight Stinger LED? How bout Tiablo A9?

If it's a closed top holster that wont work, the head is to big on the Tiablo. I'm sure will hear a suggestion for a 7060 or 8060, but one is to long and the other the head may be to big for a closed top.

I guess we have to know more about the holster. I have a Streamlight leather belt slide open holster that i use on many of my lights.(Regalight,Tiablo,Surefire and Streamlight) like this one.Except i turn it upside down to keep the light from tipping away from me.

TL, is the holder a open top or close top?

It is a closed top. The 7060 is definitely too long, and the Tiablo only comes in at 6.2 inches, too short.

I need a 7 inches minimum to tuck under my arm comfortably, 8 inches max to still fit in the holster.

The T4 is really looking like the winner so far. I just wish I could find something else, as there are so many smaller lights that are more powerful.

How about a Surefire 9P or G3?

Malkoff M60 drop-in and you should be set.

I hadn't considered that. Seemed like a great idea at first, but it really too short. A Stinger is nearly an inch longer, so a 9P would not be easy to get out of the holder. Oh well.

Any more ideas? I've been looking for awhile, but so far it looks like the T4 is my only option... Not bad, but a little disappointing.

You could add a one cell extender to the 9P and use 2x17670 rechargeables. Don't know exactly how long that would be... some else may know.

Or, maybe a Leef 2x18650 body with Surefire bezel and tailcap... although it would be about the same length as the 9P with cell extender.

The original LumaPower MRV fits into most Stinger holster - about .5" shorter than a Stinger IIRC, the new MRV SK's are a 1/2 longer so they should fit perfectly.

I think these are accurate and can double-check tomorrow:
Overall length : 175mm/6.89", Bezel diameter : 45mm,1.77", Battery tube diameter : 25.5mm/.98", Tail switch diameter : 29mm, Reflector Depth: 36mm/1.42". Weight 221G/7.8oz (without batteries)

You could buy the Solarforce host and extension tubes and make it as long as you need. Most likely no more than 2 tubes would do it and that could be 2 x 17670 batteries or 4 primaries which some lamps will run on like the Solarforce R2 single mode and there you are. the Solarforce host with 2 extensions just measured out at 7 and 7/8 inches. You could run the Malkoff M60 in that and that would be a fine long running lightwith the 2X17670. There are a lot of drop in modules that will run up to 13V if you go with 4Xprimary CR123

Next problem?

I like this idea. Do you have a recommended vendor I get this stuff from? I already have the Malkoff, where should I get the rest of the stuff?

Lighthound.com carries the full line of solarforce goodies, very reputable.

The Surefire Z49 clicky tailcap adds about 3/4" to the length of the 9P. The extra length is the rubber shroud around the clicky. It makes the 9P 7.25" long. Steamlights website indicates the Stinger is 7.38" long. The Z49 is also larger in diameter than the 9P body, around the same diameter as a Stinger body. It will fit in a Stinger holster. Add a Malkoff M60 LED dropin bulb for 2.5 hours of 235 lumens on 3 primary 123 cells. This is a winning setup for LE work.

YES. I like this. I didn't think that the clickie would actually be longer, and I was planning on getting a clickie anyway. This sounds perfect. Thanks for the tip.

I'm glad you like it. The Z59 clickie would not have been longer but the Z49 is by 3/4". I actually measured the two I own before I posted the suggestion.
The other advantage of the Z49 clickie over the Z59 clickie is the shroud around the clickie itself. When you push the light down into the holder/pouch/holster the light will not blink on with the Z49 tailcap like it will with the Z59 tailcap. The Z59 is better suited to the Surefire Polymer molded holsters which cradle the light so the clickie doesn't touch the base of the holster.

Thanks for the tips everyone, looks like some good ideas. I still wanted to give this a little bump though just to see if anyone else has some thoughts. Thanks!

I like my T4-MP. It is a very rugged light. I also think it is attractive. I ran mine over with the car twice with no ill effects. My only complaint is the light is only splash proof, and I prefer a light with a little more water resistance since I spend a lot of time fishing and hunting, and weather is never a certainty. The weak point being the switch.

Happy Holidays
