From their website:

G2 LED:
Max Output: 80 lumens
Runtime: 12 hours

G3 LED:

Max Output: 80 lumens
Runtime: 9.42 hours (5.8 hrs tactical-level light)

Am I reading this right? Adding an extra battery decreases run time, but does not increase brightness?

What gives?

It stays in regulation longer with the extra cell so..............

I know it seems crazy but that's how it is. I hate the P60L BTW.

The 12 hour runtime is deceiving. That's long after it tailed off to very low levels. The extra voltage in the G3 let's it stay in regulation longer. It remains brighter for longer and by the time it drops out of regulation it doesn't have as much remaining power left for the "tail" of low output.

I see.

I bought a G3L a while back as a 'bag light' for its extra length and what I assumed to be longer run time. I checked on Surefires website and had a WTF moment. Either way, the light still works great.

Thanks.

I'm one of the few who believe there is such a thing as too much light. The P60L works great for me.

What are the outputs/burn time of those?

According to the Malkoff website

M60L, 140 lumens, approx 4.5 hrs runtime (on primaries)

M60LL, 80 lumens, approx 8 hours runtimes.

I have both the M60L and a M60LL and they are plenty brighter than a P60L

That's pretty close to what the light comes with stock, and doesn't cost me the price of another G2L in the process.

I know Malkoff has a great reputation, but for me, I'd rather buy another light or more batteries.

From my usage, the P60L will get dim after a few hours usage. I'd rate it at 5-6 hours at the most (brightness) and dismal output after that. Well at least the X5 has batteries to munch on

Actually, it's not. The Malkoff is at full output, unlike the P60L (I believe somewhere about 3 1/2 hrs. in the G2L), BigWaffles found the M60LL actually stayed in reg., I believe, approx. 18 hrs. (full output), which is FAR longer then the P60L.

And I agree w/ Sgt. LED, I hate the P60L.

My .02 FWIW YMMV

This is what I was talking about, hope it helps.

Strictly for runtime, Malkoff hit a homerun with this drop-in. 18hrs in a 6P and 13.5hrs in the G3L with very good regulation.

As far as the beams go, the difference between the 6P with the P60L and the M60LL was quite noticable. There is over 2000Lux difference and it shows. On the other hand, the difference between the two modules was hardly noticeable on the G3L. The P60L had a little more spill than the M60LL but the hotspots were identical.

I really liked the Surefire P60L in my G3L but I'm completely sold on the Malkoff M60LL. Better output and over twice the runtime. Unfortunately, now that I have the low power/long running module I'm going to have to get a regular M60 for high power to balance it out.

Does anybody else have one flashlight that they swap heads/drop-ins as needed or is it just easier to have multiple flashlights each with a deadicated module? Thanks.

Normally run the M60 modules in their own host, got a M60L in a C2 and a M60LL in a 6P. Either planning on getting a CR123 extender for the 6P or a G2L head for the G3 to run AA. Then there are the M30s ;)
