I see on the tactical quark how you can setup the 2 modes of output and go between them turning the bezel, but if I want to change modes but not change my default 'turn-on' settings can I soft press the clicky?

Basically can I cycle modes after the light is on without having to reprogram it? :poke:

I REALLY like the programmed modes, but like being able to cycle to other modes if I need to without changing my default turn-on levels.

Also is it possible to have a Quark AA^2 non-tactical use one of the tactical tail caps so it could have momentary capabilities without the tactical memorizing mode?

And the other way, can a tactical Quark AA^2 use a non-tactical tail cap so it can tail stand and still be a tactical light?

I think it is awesome that 4Sevens sells pieces of their lights for replacements or modifications, but it would be nice to know their capabilities.

One last thing. Quark lists the flashlight replacement heads with their voltage levels which I :twothumbs since I understand the voltage levels for the batteries, however there is no specs on the LED versions R2,R4,Q5 for the heads so how do I know which one it is and their expected lumens with 2-AA or 2-CR123 ?
I am looking at the 3-9V Neutral white head specifically.
I want to get a R5 version and then get a Neutral head to see which I like better and have both options.

I just ordered my FIRST real light!!! An EagleTac T20C2 MKII and now I'm trying sooo hard not to order a Quark Mini, a Quark 123^2, a Quark AA^2 and a Fenix LD20. Hope the UPS tracking was wrong about a Wednesday delivery because I'm not sure I can wait that long! LOL

I was messing with my 3-AA LED M@G light "3W" version lastnight and it wouldn't turn on when I loosened the flashlight head until I loosened the battery cap... Wasn't sure if MAGlight has a tension setting for ON/OFF or what, but after measuring the battery current at 300mA dc and realizing there is no way its 3 watts I was ready to say forget it and replace the thing with a Fenix LD20.

Sorry for the rant, I haven't received my order yet and I'm having "can't wait for my flashlight" syndrome.

The difference between tactical and regular is in the head rather than the switch, so no, by changing the tailcap you won't be able to cycle the modes.

You can certianly put a reverse clicky switch on to make it tailstand but that won't change the operation.

The switch is just a switch: on, off, that's it. All the mode-changing takes place in the electronics in the head.

if you want it to tailstand but still use a forward clicky then put the turbo tailcap on it

Just to add a note to that, yes the turbo forward click tail standing cap will work on the non turbo quarks. But will be a tad larger in diameter, I personally don't like the look.

The standard Turbo tail cap will not tail stand. They offer a "Flat" Turbo that will tail stand and work as a forward clickie for either the Tactical or Turbo. I have the AA2 Turbo.

The replacement cool white heads are R2's except for Turbo heads which are R5. The neutral heads are something else but I've never looked at them so someone else will have to answer there.

My advice (as a current multi Eagletac and multi Quark owner) is to wait until you have that Eagletac in your hands before you go off and order any quarks and fenixes. I personally find that the UI on the Eagletac is so versatile with its almost immediate ability to access the hidden modes that my Quark Tacticals seem a little old fashioned in comparison and thus now get a lot less use.

If you do intend to buy Fenix torches, have a look around as the other day )I think) they announced new R4 versions of a few of them.

I ended up deciding to get a Quark regular to go with my Turbo instead of just buying a new head. For just a little more money, you get the R5 head and lots of lego'ing possibilities.
