My wife and her girl friend have been getting a little annoyed with my recent fascination with flashlights. They have started calling me a flashaholic. I just enjoy holding, reading about, learning about, testing and just plain playing with my two newest babies. They have resorted to making snide little remarks and jokes about me and my new addiction.

Well, justice has been served. Last night the three of us were sitting around getting ready to watch a movie and I had a light in each hand. I was getting the customary smirks from the two of them when it happened.

As if planned and right on cue, we had a power outage. My wife instinctively stood up and started for the emergency lighting. And to think, I was sitting only 3 feet away with a flashlight in each hand. I said, "You needing one of these?"

Her friend said, "Oh good grief. We will never live this one down."

I was so proud. I think I might have to order another light.

Yeah, it's a real foolish and stupid hobby until the power goes out, then it's not so dumb of a hobby anymore when people need light . This is a story most of us can relate to.

The power doesn't even have to go out, someone might be looking under a fridge or finding cables behind tv systems or something. Flashlights are just too damn useful to not EMC (every minute carry). I'm not even sure what I did before I bought my first real flashlight over two years ago...

You would never know when will you need it
Its better to be having it all the time rather than being helpless when something occurs.

EMC (every minute carry)

I like that one, haha

I saw this posted by someone. It is better to have something you don't need than to need something that you don't have. I'm too lazy to search. I'll just find his name tomorrow when i wake up

It's a great feeling isn't it? :grin2:

My bride and I had a bad thunderstorm make the entire town of Helen go dark on us on a weekend trip there. We literally were the only people in the entire hotel with flashlights. We tailstood two and lit up the whole room.

In the morning we found out that someone actually complained to the manager on duty that we had power (lights) :rant:and what made us so special to have them when no one else did.

What a wonderful addiction!

They have started calling me a flashaholic.

Oh my God!! They called your that? Well let me tell you, you have come to the right place to handle that "handle". Stick around and you will be proud to be called such a thing, and you will become an "official" flashaholic. ;)

Talking about EMC, i do carry my C2 whenever i go except for school where they forbid it
I would never get it out of my sight if i can since it does proves itself to be useful

In The Dark!

That would be the polite way to express the words I was thinking of

Then again, I'm used to torches that provide more light than regulat lighting does, so they might just be ignorant

Jibes from your wife are one thing, but I would have told her "friend" where to go. None of her GD business. Who needs the hassle and sarcasm?

I'm with Rich. Your house put her out on her rear in the dark. Then listen to the snide comments.

This friend is like family to us. She gives and she takes around here. If she does say or do something that crosses the line, I let her know.

What kind of school forbids flashlights?! I have a flashlight on me or within reach literally 24 hours/7 days a week, even in the shower!

Oh, a flashlight-free zone, I see. :ironic: Remember that if you outlaw flashlights, then only outlaws will have flashlights. ;)

What kind of school forbids flashlights?!

If I had to guess, I'd say the TSA Academy. Either that or we must have missed the news about some horrible school flashlight massacre that happened a few years ago.

Sarcasm aside, maybe flashlights could be considered pipe bombs. I mean, there is at least some justification for such a classification....

Awesome story!

Just two quick things: 1. This is kind of why I keep my flashlight problem on the D.L. whenever possible, but do give props to the OP & others for keepin it real; & 2. ask that you clarify the statement about having a flashlight in each hand when you sat down to watch a movie. You really just meant handy, near your hand, or in each pocket, or in your lap, or anything other than clutching two lights among mixed company, right?!

& I say OP cut the wires!

My school doesnt only forbids flashlights,
Not university(If they do ban a flashlight even in university,it would surely LMAO), but college, G12 by now
"All items unrelated to studying are forbidden in campus"
Even i really love my C2, i have no use of it in school, so i'd better not to bring it
I dont want those :poof: teachers to have fun on it

PS: unrelated material include magazines, gaming consoles, knifes, guns, "rubbers", playboys etc.
