Is it worth buying for its price?



By the way i have a fenix e21. is this not redundant?

I am sorry you didn't receive any reply until now!

In my opinion TK20 is well worth the price, in the case it's still available.
TK20 is a great light, one of the absolute most reliable models in Fenix assortment ever. Yes, it may be described a bit out of date today, but still I don't know any other Fenix model with more quality feeling. Also the hold comfort is the best of all Fenix lights ever, in my opinion. I think it's still few 2AA lights with such a good throw, and the tint is very nice.
Actually I seriously consider to get another TK20. For a back up if my present TK20 would stop working!

I can't recommend the Fenix TK20 enough. Dollar for dollar, it is their very best light, and my favorite LED of all time. Heavy duty construction with some of the thickest walls I've ever seen on any brand, simple high and low modes, AA format for easiness and convenience, super long throwing beam for it's size, and best of all, one of the best neutral tints so far. I actually find the tint to be on the warm side, and although not a duplicate, it has come the closest so far, to duplicating an incandescent that I've seen. The only con is that donut holes are common, mine has one, and also exhibits an inductor wine on high, though I'm not sure if this is a common issue or just with mine.

My TK20 has also the wine, and I can notice a very slight donut hole, even if I think "hole" may be too strong word for it, it's just slightly less bright in the center. Another thing worth to notice is the clicky, which has a very nice feeling and sound, it contributes to the feeling of quality.

Mine has a donut too, but I didn't buy this thing for it's pretty beam.

IIRC the post did have some answers, but got lost in that "forum debacle" some months ago.

There were replies. They were lost in the CPF crash. I'm not too sure this thread is useful anymore since it is 10 months old, the TK20 was discontinued a while ago, and I'm not too sure you can even purchase it anywhere at this point. Also, I think Batang Regla (the OP) purchased an E21.

Swedpat, I agree, I think donut hole is a little strong of a word, I only use that term so others can understand what I'm describing. Mine is exactly the way you describe. Regarding the inductor wine, I am not bothered by this, it is only noticeable in certain areas, like sitting in a room indoors or something, not to mention that I mostly use the light in it's low mode, which is more than enough light for most tasks. As for the robustness of the TK20, I had mine tail standing on top of the refrigerator one night, it fell, came crashing down onto the hard counter top, rolled off the counter top and onto the hard tile floor, not a scratch. No doubt in my mind that the TK20 is the toughest light Fenix makes (or did make). I have a notion to buy another for backup why you can still find them new online.

I get the feeling that TK20 is one of the flashlights which has not received the praises it deserves.
Imagine Fenix would make a true upgrade of TK20, with similar design, the same toughness, rubber handle and with XM-L emitter. Maybe with a bit larger reflector to keep (some of) the throw. Ring switch like TA30 and 3-modes, for example: 10, 100 and 300lm.

The LD25 is very close. Neutral emitter like the TK20 (not quite as warm though), forward clicky, rubber coated metal handle, 3, 45, 85, and 180 lumen modes (plus SOS), super tough light (ask me how I know), larger head so throw is about the same.

I have considered LD25 but have been doubtful because of the what I suspect is a bit slipper handle compared to TK20. According to what I can see it's not really close to the toughness of TK20. But yes, otherwise it seems like a good light.

The LD25 looks like a very nice light but from what I see it's doesn't look like a worthy replacement to the TK20. Although it's brighter and more efficient, the TK20's construction is most certainly more robust, and the tint on the TK20 is the best tint I have personally seen yet. Although classified as a neutral tint by Fenix, I personally don't feel this is justified, the tint is very warm and very incandescent like. Example, I used to own a Malkoff M61W 4000K and the TK20 was far warmer than the malkoff, and the tint was much closer to that of an incandescent. The TK20 might possibly be the longest throwing 2AA light there is as well, though I can't confirm this. I whole heartily agree with Swedpat, the TK20 never got the recognition it deserved.

Yep the TK20 was a crackin' good light. I bought one for my dad a few years ago and he still goes on about how good it is. He smacked it on some rocks a while ago really hard and it came out with a few nicks in the coating but it survived fine. Really good tight beam and great tint. Only bad thing was the inductor whine.
