Trust Fire 3T6 3x cree XML T6

Hello I've placed an order to China to buy this flashlight.
TrustFire 3x CREE XM-L T6 LED Flashlight Torch 3800L+CH

Please I will appreciate if anyone can comment something about it, pros, cons, etc. Is it a piece of crap?
Using it at max for more than 5 min can fry my hand?

As well I will have to purchse 18650 batteries, should I buy the protected ones?. Which brand?

I'm newie to this way of life. Any advice willbe great.

G'day, I also ordered and just received my TrustFire TR-3T6. This thing is awesome! Build quality seems to be higher than many "fire" brands. Double O-rings on the tailcap. Machining is very nice. It takes either 2 or 3 18650 batteries. I'm not sure what the deal is here as the brightness seems to be the same in either 2 or 3 cell configuration. Perhaps the driver compensates for the extra cell.

Mine got warm after 5 minutes, not hot. It might be underdriven too as I only had about 2.5 amps through my multimeter, although there may be losses through the meter. Underdriven or not, it still blows away my other single XM-LT6 and XM-LU2 which are driven pretty hard. It set off all the dogs in the neighbourhood lighting up the trees in the backyard lol. :)

I'm very pleased with this light. It will only be taken from my cold dead hands. ;)

It is nice to know that you are really happy with the TrustFire TR-3T6, that is great to be sure this litlle monster can blows away my other torchs !!!!
Mine it is coming from China still fingers crossed, it will take abaout 20 days more to arrive, I expect the custom guys here do not steal it, or have any other custom problems!

What ligth reach are you getting?

About the 2 or 3 cells, sure the driver is compensating the 3rd cell, but still you are getting the benefit of better battery life.
Regarding the underdriven issue as soon as i get it i'm going to check it with my meter and i will let you know. (mine is only 2 cells config)

What about the multicell configuration, I've read about some people being injured by Li ion batteries explosions on multicell configurations!!
What brand of battery/charger are you using?

Yes I've googled it; youtubed it :) , searched on serveral lightning forums; a lot, several times, but a new and fresh comment from a guy using the same monster will be great !! thanks for the advice :thumbsup: !!.

As for throw, well it's not really a thrower. It easily lights up trees 100 metres away, probably not much further though. It's more for output of a massive wall of light. More of a flood light. I can light up my backyard all at once. It still has a brighter middle spot but it's quite diffuse. The beam pattern is quite pretty as well. With 3 LED's I thought it might look a bit lop-sided, but really it just looks like the beam from one light.

I did get batteries and charger with mine but the build quality of the red 3000mah Ultrafire batteries that come with it is poor. So instead I am using Sanyo 2600mah batteries and a Turnigy hobby charger that I use for my model electric plane hobby. The Sanyo batteries are much better quality, and more expensive also. Ultrafire do make better 18650 batteries, but the ones that came with mine are rubbish.

I will keep mine in 2 cell configuration. It's more compact that way. To be honest it will probably end up as a shelf queen, or to show off to friends. I don't really have a use for anything this bright haha!

Yeah no problem, well to answer your question, it is current regulated, so 2 cells it prob gets you about 2.1A at the tail, and 3 cells if i rem correct about 1.34A.

I am using really good cells for that measurement, Panasonics/Sanyo unprotected. Uni-T UT58E with 4-inches long 18awg 10A probes.

BTW, try to use good quality protected cells for this light. For example, Hi Max 2600, Solarforce 2400, XTAR 2600 (basically Sanyo 2600s with PCB). Hi-Max can buy from Ebay and XTAR 2600 can search for the Budgetlightforum promo, i just ordered 6 more and now i have 16. LOL! :D I have had the SR3800 driver failing on me. Some Panasonic cells may not go poof even with a dead short, but the TF/UF unprotected surely will.

Ah okay, I didn't bother to measure mine in 3 cell config. That means a 3 cell setup will not run brighter but will run longer.

I was thinking as well on the safe chemistry cells from AW or Panasonic, butit seems they are smaller since they are not protected, and using spacers not sure if it is going to be a good soultion!

The XTAR 18700 will fit many lights. Actually i do not have any budgetlights that won't take them. Even the very tight trustfire TR-001 charger. I have 12 of them.

Xtar 18700's fit my 2 cell 3T6 with very little extra space to spare. Not sure if it would a problem if you want to use 3 cells..

BTW, I love this flashlight. Puts out a huge wall of very bright light. Not much of a thrower as others have said

Then I'm going to buy some Xtar and the Xtar WP2 II charger.

I was tempted to get some from Ebay rigth now, but :confused: mmmmmmm....... I do not know if there are fake Xtars batts populating the market ??
Maybe I should investigate that first.
