    Interesting.... thanks. That also explains why my red laser looks better than the green when going for the lumia effect.... the red interacts better with the lenses being a little more diffuse.... :ohgeez:

    Ah, ok, thanks everyone, I get the idea. No worries, I have no intention of experimenting on myself or anyone else anyway, it was just hypothetical regarding how much power my red module might be putting out. :grin2:

    That's what I thought, thanks. So, at what level of power will a laser be felt on the skin? I'm wondering because I have what should be a 40mw red module and I don't feel it at all and I wonder if I should, i.e., if it's operating at full power....

    Question - how powerful does a green laser have to be to feel it on the skin - and would it be the same for a red? Does the question makes sense?

    So, this leaves me with my 10mw doing fine when I leave it on, but my 5mw.... not good at all.... what to do, just bite the bullet and buy another one with a really good heat sink like my 10er?

    So is it normal for a 5mw green to have a short duty cycle? Is the reason my 10mw module seemingly doesn't have one simply because it has a good heat sync, and the 5 doesn't?

    I have a lumia idea that my 10mw is too bright for, it kind of overpowers the red in this case, so I thought I'd use a 5 - but I wonder if my 10 is actually more powerful or something, it's really bright.... don't feel like being without it to get it tested though :)

    So, I got a couple of 650nm 10-40mw modules recently, they seem really good, can run them for as long as I want so far, haven't tried for hours but they show no duty cycle so far, as was told to me by the company I got them from. Good. Also have a 10mw 532nm green module from extremelasers...
