Effect vs. Power....?

Yeah, any clear plastic will protect just make sure it's not very thin. The only concern would be the sides of the glasses. With invisible wavelengths it's good to have goggles that shield around the sides.

It takes MUCH more red to be felt than green or blue... red and near infrared passes easily through tissue. It takes several watts of 1064 to feel any sting, but a few hundred milliwatts of 532 green with the same diameter beam will get your attention in a hurry because it is absorbed much stronger by tissue.

Don't believe me? Compare how much green passes through your finger with a laser pointer compared to an equivalent power red pointer... your finger will glow brightly with red, but you will likely not see any green glow through it.

my >30mw green laser does not sting me, however.. when i color my skin with a permanent black maker, I can feel a slight sting.
