Yes, I'm starting to like those as a power source. Especially since they last so long, have a good temperature range and there are a lot of lights out there that support this format. And a lot of the models on offer are made to last, like that as well.

hmmm.. I guess in general although I realise that is also the hardest question to answer because there is always an exception to be found. I do have a weak spot for things build to last an I am looking for an LED light to keep in my car, so that would make the question more specific :)

Thanks for the L91 and AA suggestion. I agree that having a light in the car that runs on batteries most common is a big plus. The L91 are indeed more expensive but given their reputation over a longer period of time I feel this property makes up for their initial costs.
