    Maglite New LED Flashlights

I just saw the 3W LED Maglights and also the LED packaged to be used in your 2 cell (C or D) maglite. The LED assembly was selling for $18.88 or something like that. This was at the Wal-Mart in Freetport IL. Does anybody know if this is a passive drive or does this package have a converter in it?

    Zinc Air batteries?

There are some places on line that sell silver oxide batteries in quantity for very reasonable prices. I have been buying my SR44s from this place. http://www.sr44.com/payment.html It has been awhile since I have ordered any, but their sight is still there. There are other places with similar...

    Dorcy 1 watt luxeon

Thanks for the input. I did not think to go to the LED museum. I tried a search of this forum and came up with nothing. I don't plan on buying one my self but I have a friend that is interested in a Luxeon. I was going to build him one, but it will cost more than $25 for parts and I would...

    3mm LED in AAA M-glite

You seem to be under driving your LEDs. As Gadget Lover mentioned, use Lithium AAs in your Mini Mag you will get better results. Some CPF people have used White 3mm LEDs in Solitares by using the 12 volt garage door remote batteries with a dropping resistor or even direct drive. The other...

I just saw a 1 watt 3x AAA Dorcy flashlight at Target. Has anybody had a chance to try this one? It is selling for about $25.

    LED Christmas lights---Where?

I found the Forever Bright LED light strings at the local Menard's home improvement store. I picked up a 35 light multicolor set. They also had an all blue set in stock. They are nice looking lights. Nice pure color and very close brightness levels between colors. They also have the RGB...

    Dorcy 1AAA vs Dorcy1AA

Light is kind of like sound, we don't notice a two fold increase as a two fold increase. For a increase in light level to appear as if doubled you must increase it by a factor of ten. I have both lights. The AAA is easier to carry, the AA as stated by others will put out more light longer on...

What's the word on this Garrity light? ...

Re: What\'s the word on this Garrity light? ... Save yourself some money and buy the Dorcy 1 AAA light for about $6. It uses the same size LED with a much more efficient drive. It will last longer on a ration of 3 AAA batteries than the Garrity (you just have to use them one at a time). It...

Are you sure it is not a resistor? Orange, orange, blue would give you a 33Meg resistor.

    Vacuum seal batteries?

alkalines are probly okay, but I would not vacuum pack any other kind. There is no real value in doing it other than to keep them dry. Batteries with vents may vent electrolyte, NiMh should be stored on a upright position. Lithium batteries vent enough that the vacuum will last only for...

    DORCY 1AAA vs. DORCY 1AA

When you measure the current, use your 10 amp range. This will give you the least amount of added series resistance from meter insertion. Yes, your display resolution goes down but the lower resistance will give you a more acurrate current reading.

    DORCY 1AAA vs. DORCY 1AA

I have 3 Dorcy 1AAA lights, love each one of them. I also have a Dorcy 1AA, it still is using the original Dorcy battery. I don't think you can argue over differance in light output with fresh batteries in each. But I have noticied after equal amounts of use the Dorcy 3led 1AA holds it output...

    Leaky rechargables

My biggest concern with leaky NiCads is how toxic the stuff is. I don't know if you get much cadmium in leakage, but cadmium is very toxic. I believe it was in this forum that I read about a man who was killed from the cadmium fumes emitted while burning trash that had Nicads mixed in. I just...

    Oddball LED Light question

I have seen a demonstration where LEDs were dipped in liquid nitrogen. This would cause a visible color change. It was a long time ago and I don't remember what colors were used and what colors resulted, but it was changing one base color to another if I remember right.

    UV led at Wal Mart

I think they started out in the toy department. The price I found is a clearance price. It will probably be different at other Wal Marts. I may clear out the rack next time I am in town if any are left. They are called Invisible Journals by IQ Hong Kong. The original price is marked as...
