How to drive SST-50 for max lumens
The SST-50 3.2v - 3.9v is not bright enough. When I use 6vf, DD I get high lumens and not destroy the emitter.
With 2 x 4.2v, 2.6Ah bats (in series), 5-12v, 5A driver, the emitter blew. The 8.4v was too much and/or the driver failed, not sure what happened. Some said it was not voltage but the amperage-2.6amps with a 5 amp diode it's doubtful. When I use 5 X NiMH 1.2v, 4.5Ah bats I get good results(very bright). When I use vf of 4.2v, 4.5Ah bats the lumen output is much less. Very confused.
Any ideas why/if the driver failure and how to restrict incoming voltage to 6. Need more info please ask [email protected]
