wow... you guys just arent going to let me use halogen are you? hahahaha. next I'll have one of your UK members banging on my door with LEDs in hand :D
well there is only so much I can fight it....
so will a 'MC-E in a 50 mm reflector and a driver from DX' produce a similar output to a 35W...
Actually my instructor there was called Fidel!!! :D
He was an ex military diver and had around 10,000 dives... most of which were with the special forces so obviously not logged. He was pretty hardcore... I have never seen lung capacity like it :) At the end of the dives all the 500+ dive...
Well when I got a quote for 15mm optical glass it was 200 quid. Nearly wet myself. I think I might go for polycarbonate now... is that a good choice to replace glass? I will also go thinner too
Well as I am building to torch head to fit a big relay in etc, there is enough room to pop in an...
Ok I tried the embedded image thing (from a Picasa URL link) but it doesnt seem to have worked as I just get a blank space where the images were meant to be. Perhaps this will just be easier?

Hi everyone...
Now this is my first attempt at posting pics so please bear with me if it doesnt work :)
Here are some CAD pics of the canister I have designed (including original 4-cell per pack design and new 6-cell pack design).
The canister is sealed by one compression o-ring and two...
Lol I know I figured that one out... but I havent got one of those free image accounts yet. I have seen people do pics embedded in the post rather than via a link... or do you still need an image sharing account for that?
I got to say I am very impressed with your design and work so far. Its looking very good - I might even have to steal your and DIWdiver's ideas for the external switch. Let me know where you want the royaltys sent too :)
I look forward to seeing more pics

Ok that makes sense. I have had a rethink and I think I can organise the batteries into 7.2V (6 cell) radial packs - cad pics to follow in the week. This will mean I can then charge them sperately using the £5 RC battery chargers. I can take 4 chargers with me and charge them all at once (or...
Dont you need some kind of current regulating circuit for LEDs? What else would I need to fo to go down the LED route. And how much would the light output of a few high power LEDs compare to a 35W or 50 W halogen?
I could get my stated batteries for £30 - if I halfed that, would I be able to...
Thanks for the input guys.
I am going down the route of halogen dure to cost and simplicity. I can move to LED later, but now I want to keep it simple - and bright. haha
Also Li-Ion batteries are more expensive, need electronics from what I have heard and also require more expensive...
Hi,
Before I get round to posting some CAD pics of my design, I thought I'd run my design past some of the experts to see what they think of my specs.
Aim: make a very simple canister dive light for under £100 to test the technology. For use with wreck diving (very little penetration)...
Hi everyone.
I am a diver who has decided to build his own canister dive light so thought I'd say hi to everyone.
I have been diving a few years and also I am doing a PhD in mechanical engineering so I thought it was about time I build my own kit. After all, I have built everything else I...
