FWIW my emitter is also off center. I'd wonder if there isn't a temporary fixture used to align it before it gets soldered.
It hasn't bothered me (until it was mentioned!) because at the end of the day I'm neither inspecting the beam pattern nor the light itself when I use it.
I received a 18680 tube High CRI and Dark Sucks clip to follow my 2010-era High CRI! Thanks Henry!
I've been out of the loop for years but here are my thoughts after some days:
A backer material certainly eases button actuation.
No poofy button upon reassembly? Do the widened o-ring channels...
On my new Clicky, if I click six times from off, it remains in a sort of Morse code mode where the UI is strictly being momentary on maximum brightness. I can resume normal operation by removing the head for a reset. Is there a way to disable this feature? I tried searching but don't know what I...
I've come up with a smattering of interrelated, cheap mods:
I epoxied the perimeter of the PCB for the button to make it isolated (airtight) from the battery compartment.
I Dremeled a grip ring from a soda bottle that is fairly thick but keeps the tail compartment o-ring functioning. The...
Actually, it would appear that Notsure Fire is being affected by some sort of malware as you can see all of his posts since yesterday are like this. His sig has a strange link in there as well. (Feel free to delete this off-topic post)
Re: Why do you guys like HDS (RA) lights so much?
Many great answers here. I empathize most with mefestofele86's as to why I finally decided to get one (so many people seem to like High CRI, myself included now), and CLBME's for underscoring the physical density of HDS lights. I feel the...
I measured my Clicky's AlTiN SS bezel with a ruler and not calipers to be about 24.75mm in diameter. Although my F04 doesn't fit loosely, it could be more snug.
I wanted to avoid taping the bezel and tape in general, so I cut a 1/2" long piece of clear 1" diameter heat-shrink tubing. I slid it...
I didn't notice the extra hole initially; it looks like a great match otherwise!
Why not grind away that extra protruding hole.. would doing so weaken the clip and/or leave a raw steel edge?
Ultimately YMMV with how snugly the F0x filters fit.
Recently I ordered both an F04 and F05 (from two different places) but the F05 arrived here first. To my pending dismay the F05 was loose on the bezel, but I lucked out that my F04 fits securely there. I got the F05 for only its rubber to...
Correct (with the disclaimer that this is what I also observe with my Clicky made in mid-2010); I read your "Press-clicking" as "Click-pressing." In either case with the light initially off, the mode you get from click-to-on is momentary for the duration of pressing, and A is momentary for the...
I just finished making a loop holster for my HDS Clicky High CRI.
Can't wait to try it out; the lanyard/grip ring I added was a bit uncomfortable in kneepockets, but now it's pants season again.
I use a Dremel cut-off wheel to shorten some hex-socket 4-40 x 1/2" stainless steel screws to the needed 3/16". The heat from cutting yellows the silver color but I like it; using a butane torch lighter darkens them one shade.
I use my light primarily indoors. I haven't considered momentary since I use it for tasks rather than cursory inspections. I'm naive regarding where momentary is useful.
Therefore, momentary would be a nice extra but enabling it arguably doesn't retain the non-momentary function when forced/TOP...
Thanks for the bezel/reflector disassembly info! I think I read somewhere (maybe a post from Henry) that the two parts are ironically stuck even more because the O-ring is lubed.
I assume it should be safe to clean the glass using lint-free wipes and lens cleaning solution, such as Eclipse and...
