Thanks for the comments - I looked at the FourSevens Quark Pro QP2A-X. 280 lumens, but only 1 hour run time.
Looking closer at the Fenix LD40, it has a run time of 3hrs 15mn at 248 lumens (turbo)...that's three times the run time on my TK11, and the Quark Pro QP2A-X.
I'm not sure about the...
I like my Fenix TK11 very much, except that it only has two modes. But that aside, it's very bright and well build.
Now I need a similar flashlight that takes AA. Under $70 or so.
Lumens? Maybe 150-250 would work I think.
It would be nice if it had a turbo, normal and very low modes.
One is...
Thanks for all of the information - here's what I ended up with;
The Cupboard:
Rebel 3-cell LED - (I love this light)
Fenix TK 11 (R2) - (great quality but only two mode w/ 70 Lm as the lowest)
Maratac AA Black - (AA's option is the reason here - AA's are sold everywhere)
The Bug-out-Bag...
Hey Foxfyre,
I was at my brother-in-law's last winter in NH - his electric went out for a week...no heat. We drove to Boston to buy a generator to run his furnace.
To me, that brought it home real quickly, so now I'm on a mission to get my Bug out Bag finished and 6-weeks work of supplies...
I have a recent model Fenix with dual 123's - it only has low (70Lm) and high (240Lm) and i am looking for a few more flashlights to kept for emergencies only - most likely stored in my BOB (bug-out-bag/ goBag)
The Fenix on low still burns through the batts. rather quickly.
I want to stay...
Thanks for the replies :twothumbs- the EagleTac T20C2 it is... I like the sma-sma-smaller sized head (less throw than the A9, perhaps) ... I'll see how it compares to the TK11, which really like.
Sorry, sometimes I studder.
John
EDIT:
Who are the better vendors for the EagleTac...
I have the TK11 that works very well, I like it a lot, but I'm looking for the best throw in this same sized flashlight. Two CR123's is what I am after, as well.
I'll be using this flashlight to illuminate large vacant warehouses that have no electric power.
Any thoughts...thanks in advance...
Re: Home Depot/ Lowe's Grease?
You're right, of course - I just wanted an acceptable grease that was easy to come by.
I ended up @ AutoZone this afternoon and purchased a small tub of Mobile 1 Synthetic Grease (red) that I just now used on all of my MagLites and Fenix.
Seems to work OK...
A few quick questions...
Just got the Fenix TK11 R2 and was wondering what grease I can use on the threads - there must be some easy-to-get stuff out there that works. I was thinking WD40 or lithium.
Also, I can't imagine they didn't design this thing to stand on its tail.
Nice light...
