    list your lights

Old Guy, but newbie to the latest gen LED torches. Ancient (incandescent or halogen) Petzel headlamp with external 3 cell battery pack. The cold weather, nighttime tractor use (loader bucket blocks headlamps). Older Primus headlamp. For general use. Early gen Petzel Zippka and Tikka...

    Nitecore SRT9 ring problem

Less than a month of nightly use. Primarily the white LED on the lower end of lumens. Occasional moments in turbo mode and strobe when attempting to scare off the night raiders (aka raccoons). No issues. Using protected cells (KeepPower 3500mAh).

Finally purchased a real flashlight but....

Recent upgrade from incandescent MagLites, older gen LEDs or cheapo LED lights to some decent torches. TM26GT is not first, but probably the last quality light purchased. Unless I trash or lose a light. NiteCore SRT9 is my "every night carry" torch. More or less gave up on the boatloads of...

    Best portable solar charger?

Micro-cruiser at ~15.5 ft LOA designed and built for real seas and single handed sailing. V-berth, porta-potti. More "backpack" vs. "real" cruising. Cabin top is a bit cluttered with lines, fairleads, turning blocks, winch.... Not looking for a panel that allows for charging when under way...

    REVIEW: Nitecore SRT9 Flashlight

Couple weeks of use. Overall happy with the purchase. Find the illumination of the green LED bit too bright for max preservation of night vision. Prefer green over the red in reducing night sight. Solution for when preserving night vision is a priority was picking up the NFG-40 and using...

    Best portable solar charger?

Thanks for the info. Didn't even consider the durability issue of the folder. Backpacking has been for me a bit on the minimalist, pseudo-ultralight side. Light source is limited to a Petzel Zippka and couple micro key chain type LED lights. Nothing else that requires fuel (wood burning...

    Best portable solar charger?

Anyone using any of the PowerFilm brand of solar chargers? Opinions? No mjlorton quality reviews found. Just a few poor to ok reviews and PowerFilm product YT videos. Made in the USA (Iowa), bit on the pricey side per lableled watt and larger in unfolded/unrolled size relative to most other...

    Looking for a good RGB

Different video? davemz999's YT "SRT7-GT Review with SRT7-Revenge and MH27 Comparison". Long video. ~32 minute mark a comparison of light quality between the 3 flashlights. White light MH27=SRT7GT>SRT7. Relative luminosity in color modes MH27>SRT7GT>SRT7. Quality of light relative to...

First time you became aware of "high end" flashlights?

Depends on what is defined as a "high end" flashlight? Sort of define "high end" as the latest in design and efficiency. So I guess a few days ago. Purchased a NiteCore SRT9. Personally look at hand and head lamps to be semi-disposable tools. As in when I misplace or drop a unit overboard or...

NEW Fenix FD30 Focus Beam Flashlight - Spot to Flood Beam With Max of 900 Lumens

FD30 using a different type of focusing system compared to the FD41? The dark spot when transitioning from spot to flood in the FD41 is a little bit annoying. Leaning towards the FD30. Bit less $s, Eco mode a bit lower and L mode a bit stronger than the 40's Low mode.

AW vs Orbtronic vs KeepPower 18650

New to cpf. Clueless to which brand of 18650 is the "better" manufacture. Following HJK recommendations of sticking with battery built around Sanyo, Panasonic, Samsung.... and following the dated trend on this poll (lemming effect?). Originally placed and order for Orbtronic 3100 (~$56/4)...

    Looking for a good RGB

Newbie here. So a bit clueless. Ordered couple days ago the NiteCore SRT7GT model. YouTube video comparison "illuminated" the difference between the SRT7 and GT model. Definitely brighter red and green. Sorry don't remember the YT channel (viewed way too many reviews). Long video +40min by...
