Laser Pointer that Uses AAA or AA Batteries.

Hey folks, I found this thread searching for the same thing, but I did also find a laser pointer that uses a single AAA battery. [link removed - DM51] I just ordered this 1xAAA laser a few minutes ago so I can't personally comment on the quality, etc but it seems to have decent reviews and...

Melting stuff with a light bulb

I'm wondering if some knowledgeable flashaholics would have some input on this idea... First some background info: There's a project I'm interested in called candyfab (http://www.candyfab.org/). It's basically a DIY 3D printer / rapid prototyping machine that uses sugar as a medium. It builds...

    Multicell AA to D adapters?

Finally got the aventrade adapters(mailman managed to jam my mailbox locking mechanism with the package :ironic:). The molded plastic they are mode out of says "GrandCell". Tried them in a 4d maglite, and found that they will just barely fit with 4aa Eneloops. It is a slight squeeze though...

How much cheaper are rechargeables to run over primaries?

I think the price of electricity to charge your batteries is really negligible. If I remember correctly, my maha C401FS wall wart is rated at 12V, 1000mA. This means at peak load it couuld be drawing up to 12Watts. Now, I'm pretty damn sure it doesn't use anywhere close to that when not...

    Arc AAA brightness

How recent is recent? How can I tell if I have the latest model?

    Arc AAA brightness

I know, I just don't think I'm ready to pay $120 for an EDC right now.

    Arc AAA brightness

I got my Arc AAA a few months ago and have been very happy with it. I thought it was pretty bright for such a small light. Then just a few days ago I ordered a fenix L0D, and saw how bright an AAA light could really be. I knew it would be brighter, but had no idea by how much. Now I know the...

    Eneloop shock resistance?

Not sure what's wrong with me, but the past couple days I have dropped some of my Eneloop batteries a few times onto my tile floor(from about 4-5' high). What is the likelihood that I have done some damage to them? If I remember correctly, NiMh do not like being dropped very much, but I think...

An "open source hardware" smart charger?

I don't know a whole lot about this, but I have seen this "all solid" capacitor that Gigabyte uses in some of their products. They say that they can last about 6 times longer than standard electrolytics...

An "open source hardware" smart charger?

$15 seems pretty ridiculous to me for a connector. And that's just the male connector! So it will cost ~$30 just for connectors, per modules. I think that is way too much. Also, who the heck just has a subrack laying around. That is going to be another big chunk of money for people to lay...

An "open source hardware" smart charger?

I have never heard of these, are they very widely available?

An "open source hardware" smart charger?

Yeah I'm thinking maybe a few mA at most? If someone was using some 12V-only power supply, it might not be unreasonable to just use a simple two resistor voltage divider to power it.

An "open source hardware" smart charger?

I definitely agree with this. Mainly because I have a spare PSU laying around. :grin2: They can supply 12V(probably good for most charging circuits) and 5V(good for powering the microcontroller and logic circuits). I think this would work for the majority of uses. Many people might find it...

An "open source hardware" smart charger?

That's pretty cool, but I don't consider it completely open. They give you the firmware for the chip in Basic, but they say: Which sounds like you have to purchase their software, which is not open.
