    ReviewTheLight: Fenix TK32 (950 Lumens + 100mW RGB Emitters)

The anti-roll is silly. And the cut outs are hilarious: 5 cutouts on the heat fins and 6 shallow cutouts on the head which don't stop rolling, however you can put it ont it's side so the head is at the edge of the surface, and that works to rollstop.

    Fascinating Ozark Trail 250 AA

A $13 light from Wal-Mart, takes three AAs and steps itself down, but 5 hours on a high mode that begins at 250 lumens. Rechargeable batteries work well in it. Rather too big for EDC it has more throw and wider flood than the coast hp7. Good disorienting strobe. Comes with Duracell primaries...

    Using Flashlights As A Beacon

Air condition is huge. High humidity OR smoke and dust can make a 600 meter ansi thrower viable, if it can sustain that power. A pulsing light may help battery power, but to see the beam a mile away the intensity would need to be 1,500 meters ansi ~~~. Dedicated spotlight might work but because...

    Pocket Clip Trauma

Naturally I carry a knife on one side and my cell in my other front pocket so the light goes on holster or 7th pocket or 8th or 6th. Further I don't know how you guys attach photos without a third party, but I have never seen that degree of damage. If my pants are suffering that much I...

    Flashlight DESIGN

I despise unusually shaped lights. Cigars, tornadoes, cubes, Ls, discs, dumbbells, cans, and etc. Normally shaped flashlights with a head slightly bigger than the rest are what look best to me. I don't want comments like, "what planet did you buy that from." Further, colors. Gross. Black or...

    Flashlight O Ring sizes

Imho, and I don't mean to be confrontational, planned obsolescence. Never have I ever used a silicon etc. o ring to the point of replacement. Often these materials are invincible. Can't imagine (based on my own personal use) an o ring being outlasted by the emitter itself.

What jobs do people do that they need to EDC flashlights?

As maintenance in a big box store when lights go out in a room I go and fix the problem. Dream job for a flashoholic really. 250lumens+ is usually needed. Focusing lights help because the higher intensity of the focused beam helps cleaning various things including under shelves when eye fatigue...

~ $50 General purpose light, 2 sets of batteries and charger, for non flashaholics

I would absolutely go with primary lithium compatibility. Critical flashlight use needs critical battery performance and maximum power/weight. Best lanyard hole, recessed switch. Throw color and other flashoholic terms out the door, focus on reliability. Each flashlight should last 6 years no...

Newby. Have only had generic flashlights and need to upgrade

I totally agree here. My fenix tk75 for overall power and throw (duty light, 4x18650) my coast hp550 🇩🇴🇺🇧🇱🇪 🇦 🇧🇦🇹🇪🇷🇮🇪🇸 and enough light to work the night plus low mode for inane powerful run time at useable lumens, and if I run through all my batteries (impossible) I can 7-11 them. Finally...

Which of your lights don't get used?

I agree with this philosophy, as I only spend 1% of my annual on flashlights and their batteries, I can't afford to have multiples for different purposes. I never can lights either, I store old cheaper/less used lights for emergencies and gift useful ones I've replaced with a higher end...

    Looking For A Budget Light

I seriously recommend if your bike rides last more than 20 minutes you buy a dedicated bicycle light, preferably something that doesn't throw half of it's light up into the stratosphere, that 300 lumens is only 150 lumens for bicycling, anything not dedicated will need the lumens halved to...

Power Outage, How many Lumens, How many batteries? (for lights and more)

2 more power outages in my neighborhood since my last post. Both times my rayovac $1 lights were fun to loan out to people (%75 return rate each time) and my coast hp550 held up great too good to take a shower in high mode and cook (gas) with as well-things I need 1000 lumens for. In both...

Recommendation for camping and bears..and general use.

I agree. I've stressed over all high output lights that are lighter than 1/5 pound. Good heavy lights have the same 1000((+++)) lumens for much longer times.

    Firefly/sub lumens?? Why?

I'm not seeing uses that 1 lumen can't do. Moonlight is over 1 lux. Without some 1-2 lumens flashlights are useless to me. Moonlight modes especially on unprotected cells are also dangerous.
