Excellent Steve!!! Thank you for that!
How do you typically know what the driver consumes? DX doesn't include much description about their products. I don't want to purchase a driver and realize it doesn't drop enough (or even worse...drops too much) voltage for the 3.7ish that the MC-E needs...
I've got a few ideas floating through my head for a MC-E mag mod. I continue to get confused with drivers/constant current regulators...
The MC-E has a Vf of 3.7V and runs at 2.8A.
The part that is confusing me is some constant current regulators i've look at for the MC-E and P7(which runs at...
I originally was going to buy from Cutter, but their hipCC is much more expensive and it was going to cost an additional $25 (ish) to ship to my location in the US....
I got onto taskLED's website today to order the hipCC, and their website is down? Anyone know if they are just having website issues, or are they no longer in business?
Hopefully the hipCC will still be around...I want to use that for my MC-E mod!
Just checking to see if anyone has had issues with DX 1400mAH drivers? I've heard that the solder job on most of them is poor...but has anyone ran into them not running at 1400mAH?
Are they finally shipping them also? Or do they just say they will be shipping 5-10days? I remember them being on...
I got to looking at those 1400mA drivers last night...they are only 3W 1400mA drivers.
Is that going to cause a problem? Since i'm going to run 2 dies in parralell at 1400mA (700mA per die) with a recommend Vf of 3.4V. That means at 1.4A and 3.4V (recommended) it is 4.76W. So a 3W 1400mA driver...
Ok...with DX taking so long to get the AMC7135 1400mA Regulated Circuit Board http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.1886 off of back order...i'm contemplating going with the original idea that I was given.
Just to give yall a background, this is what i've got:
1 MC-E running off 3.6V
The...
Can't wait to see the beam shots of 3 MC-E!! I'm doing a similar mod, only with 1 MC-E though...just waiting to place my parts order. I figured about 10W would be plenty for my type of diving...but I definalty wanna see that 30W once your done! Be sure to post pics throughout the mod!!
Who did...
Did it make a tight beam?? I'm using it for a underwater light, so I'm tryin to find something that doesn't spill A LOT because I don't want it to cause a "underwater white out" with particles in the water...
Anyone know of a good reflector for MC-E emitter (20mm star or 20mm round) for a D mag?
I'm looking for 10 deg or less...but might have to do with something bigger than 10deg....
Thanks ahead of time!
Thanks
After doing some looking around i'm thinking i'm going to order this 10deg optic and holder from Cutter Extreme. http://www.cutter.com.au/proddetail.php?prod=cut850 Is the >85% efficiency ok?...i ran into one that had 90% efficiency but would have to do some digging to find it again...
Awesome! Thanks yall!
What is the best way to heatsink this setup well? I've seen some "DIY" heat sinks on the forum for sale, but most of the DIY ones are for the die only, not for stars or round...
Ok...
This is what i've decided...
I'm going to go with 1 MC-E wired as you have in the schematic. I'm going to use (2) 1400mA drivers like you showed wired as the schematic. And (3) D-NiMH batteries in series at 10000mAh (that will be 3.6ish volts) to supply the required 3.4v for the cree...
