70US$ would be a great price in Europe, think that the lowest I could find was 64 pounds (shipped) in UK which converts to little more than 100$. I could order in honk kong but wait 2 months until arrive and the risk of custom inspections and fees. Not good. I missed a good opportunity though...

In the end I bought an ITP SC1 R2 that should give me about 6klux in a very compact and lightweight body.
I chose the R2 version over the R5

Considering what is easiliy available in europe I am still considering the ITP SC1 R2 version as one of the best choices: 6KLux in a small compact body and at cheap price. There is now also an SC1 R5 variant but I guess it throws less.

If my life depends on the light then i would avoid CR123 batteries and choose AA that you can find/recharge easily anywhere (talking about both primary/nimh type)
If you want a bright and small AA you can choose a quark mini AA or there are plenty of similar lights, but again, if my life...

The seller gave me also the optional smooth reflector and while replacing it I accidentally touched :eek: with one finger the inner side of the OP origianally installed in the torch.
I have read that this is bad...
